Day by Day

Day 1 - Sunday 11th August - Welcome To Scotland!

On arrival at Inverness Airport you will be met by your private trip guide and head right out to start your explorations (depending on your arrival time of course). If there is time then you can take a boat trip out on to the deep waters of Loch Ness to hunt for the monster. Or visit an ancient castle full of stories and history. The choice is yours!

Day 2 - Monday 12th August - Over The Sea To Skye

Your guide will meet you at your hotel this morning and together you will start your journey west. The journey takes you along the scenic northern side of Loch Ness and through the steep mountains of Kintail with no shortage of views to admire. Along the way you can choose to stop at either Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness, or the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, elegantly apart on its own island. Then continue over the bridge to the Isle of Skye itself and onwards to your welcoming hotel to settle in for your first night on the island.

Day 3 - Tuesday 13th August - Skye By Land & Sea

A short stroll from your hotel takes you down to Portree harbour this morning, where you board a boat to explore the picturesque Sound of Raasay. Admire the mountain vistas, sea cliffs and caves, which are home to a wide variety of seabirds and other wildlife. Look out for sea eagles, dolphins, seals and even whales, as well as the lively seabird communities.

Once back on shore you have the full afternoon to explore with your guide. Maybe hike through some of the unique rock structures and visit fascinating cultural sites as you admire the stunning scenery. Maybe discover some of the many local legends and see for yourselves why ‘the misty isle’ is such a special place. Discuss the options with your guide to decide which suits your preferred level of challenge and your curiosity today.

Day 4 - Wednesday 14th August - Harry Potter's Steam Train

Leaving Portree, head south to the imposing ruin of Armadale Castle. This once-grand structure used to be home to the powerful Clan Donald, who ruled the western coastline of Scotland for hundreds of years.

Afterwards, a short ferry ride takes you back to the mainland, ready for the next stage of your adventure. Step about the famous Harry Potter steam train for a memorable journey through beautiful scenery and over that viaduct. Wizard costumes optional but encouraged! Arriving into Fort William, your guide meets you off the train and transfers you to your luxurious castle hotel.

Day 5 - Thursday 15th August - Across The Highlands

Today you head east to the heart of the Highlands, the Cairngorms National Park. Stop in at the Highland Folk Museum, a fascinating outdoor site which was used in the filming of Outlander and other historic dramas.

After lunch enjoy an Archery session against the backdrop of the Cairngorm Mountains before you head to your welcoming accommodation to settle in and enjoy a delicious dinner cooked by the chef.

Day 6 - Friday 16th August - Exploring The Cairngorms National Park

The Cairngorms National Park is a perfect outdoor playground for so many different activities. This morning you will head out with your guide to explore some of this wonderful scenery on foot. Take a diversion to a special hide where cheeky red squirrels often put on a show in this Caledonian Pines.

After lunch take to the wooded off-road trails on Mountain Bikes with a qualified guide. Choose from easy traffic-free gravel trails (suitable for all) or take on some of the local singletrack for some thrilling rides. Your guide will discuss with you what will suit your preferred level of adventure best.

Finish the day with one last delicious Highlands dinner at your accommodation.

Day 7 - Saturday 17th August - Transfer To Edinburgh & Explore

Your guide will transfer you down to Edinburgh this morning, arriving before lunch to drop your bags at your hotel. Head out with your guide to get a sense of this unique city and its twisting alleyways, full of history and stories. Mid-afternoon your guide will depart, leaving you to continue your explorations at your own pace and enjoy the vibrant festival atmosphere.

Day 8 - Sunday 18th August - Depart
