This trip extension can be combined with the 10 day Wilderness Travel – Private Journeys: Scotland 2024. This extension takes place mid-trip, with the revised itinerary starting on Day 9. Please note that there is no upgraded option available for this extension.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Sail to the Outer Hebrides

You will head back west to Uig and take the ferry across to the Outer Hebrides. These beautiful islands are a joy to explore. You will visit a Harris Tweed weaver and then enjoy a walk on one of the stunning beaches.

Day 2 - Hiking North Harris

North Harris is a wild and beautiful region with the highest peaks in the islands, deep glens and wonderful wildlife such as red deer and golden eagles. You will enjoy a hike here – high or low level – taking in the amazing mountain and sea views.

Day 3 - Exploring Harris & the Golden Road

Today you will explore the east coast of Harris, with its many inlets and coves. You can hike on one of the ancient ‘coffin roads’ or perhaps up the small but rewarding peak of Toe Head from where, on a clear day, the distant archipelago of St Kilda can be seen.

Day 4 - Islands to Inverness

You will journey north across the causeway to the Isle of Lewis. You will have time to visit the incredible standing stones at Callanish before taking the ferry from Stornoway back to Ullapool, on the mainland. From here, it’s just over one hour to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands.

Day 5 - Travel to Glasgow & Depart

The transfer south to Glasgow Airport takes a little over 3 hours. Depending on flight times, there are plenty of places of interest where you can stop along the way. Drop off at the airport and depart.
