Your private guide, who will also act as your driver for your time together, will meet you at your hotel this morning and together you will head north. As you travel into the rugged mountains of the Cairngorm National Park, you will stop for an artisan tasting experience in the Highland Chocolatier, trying some of their delectable award-winning truffles.
As you near your destination, stop off to explore the huge open air site of the Highland Folk Museum and relive history in its painstakingly recreated buildings. This fascinating 80 acre site has over 30 dwellings “frozen in time” from the early 1700s to the mid 1900s so that you can experience the details of Highland life as it was back then. Useful Contacts
24 hour in-country support (Wilderness Scotland): +44 (0)1479 420 020, or out with regular office hours +44 (0)7766 794 640 (urgent calls only)
Emergency services: 999 or 112
NHS 24 (24 hour free medical advice): 111
Tipping Guidelines
For tipping our guides – We don’t generally recommend a set amount as tipping is not expected in the same way that it is in North America. However, similar North American travel companies generally suggest something along the lines of £10-30 per person per day for your guide, which is a wide range to choose from. Generally, we would encourage you to ask yourself what you were expecting from your guide, and then think about how they have exceeded those expectations and choose an amount you are comfortable with.
For local services such as restaurants again tipping is not expected but if you receive great service then 10-15% of the bill is normal.
Luggage Notes
Please note that we expect travellers to bring an average of One Large Holdall or Suitcase and up to Two smaller day-bags or hand-luggage sized pieces. If you expect to bring more than this then please let us know well in advance of arrival so that we can ensure there is capacity for this (additional charges will apply if separate luggage transfers are required).
Please see our booking terms here.

Originally from Edinburgh I moved to the West Highlands in 2010 leaving behind a staff nurse post to go back to university. Four years later I had a degree in Adventure Tourism Management (a degree in having fun) and had started working as a guide.
I now spend much of year guiding and the rest working as a technician in theatre and live events. How I got into this work is a whole other story! Nursing was a career that I am really glad to have experienced however the chance to follow a passion was too great and I am now really happy in everything I do for a living.
Wherever the wind takes me. I do have my favourite parts of Scotland and the UK but there are still many places I haven’t been and I absolutely love getting to explore somewhere completely new. I’m a big fan of mountain ridges but also quite fond of my couch with a good book and a cup of tea.
I sometimes work in fireworks and pyrotechnics and have worked on some of the biggest shows in the UK including the London Eye New Year display and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Can be messy graft but fun too.
