Day by Day

Day 1 - Friday 19th July - Arrival & Padstow

Arrive into the bustling town of Newquay and make your way along the scenic route to the fishing port of Padstow where you will board a ferry to make the short crossing to Rock for a lunch overlooking the Camel Estuary. Upon your return to Padstow, idyllic and well-known for its food scene, visit the lobster hatchery and learn about marine conservation. You’ll end the day sampling local cuisine from Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant.

Day 2 - Saturday 20th July - Bedruthan Steps & Watergate Bay

After breakfast and short morning drive you will embark on a circular hike, descending the coast of Porth Mear, meandering past picture perfect coves to view Bedruthan Steps; the towering sea stacks fabled for giants. Recharge for lunch in Watergate Bay, the home of English National Surf Championships and admire the watersport action below. Head around to Newquay Harbour and cruise hidden covers & secret beaches as you get a first-hand glimpse of the underwater world to spot dolphins, sharks & tuna. End the day watching the sunset over the world famous Fistral Beach.

Day 3 - Sunday 21st July - Coastal Villages & Arrival into St. Ives

Spend the morning driving along the scenic coastal road and stop at Crantock for a morning circular stroll along West Pentire to Polly Joke Beach. As you continue South, stop at your leisure to explore towns and villages at your leisure such as Perranporth, St Agnes & Porthtowan. By afternoon you’ll arrive into the historic town St. Ives with some free time to meander the winding narrow cobbled streets and discover the boutique shops & galleries. Dinner is recommended at one of Cornwall’s most iconic restaurants; Carn Brae Castle, which dates back to 1790.

Day 4 - Monday 22nd July - Local Arts & Mining

Spend the morning diving into the local art scene viewing work at the modern St Ives Tate Gallery then experience a fascinating insight into Barbara Hepworth’s life and works through a gallery, studio and sculpture garden. Afterwards, set off for the rugged tin coast to take a step back in time and follow the footsteps of Cornish Tin Miners at Geevor Tin Mine, an incredible World Heritage Site. Spend the evening tasting some local food in St Ives’ electric food scene.

Day 5 - Tuesday 23rd July - South Coast Oasis

This morning, head to the oasis of Porthcurno Beach with white sands and turquoise bays. Admire views across the clifftops as you hike a circular to Penberth Cove, a pilchard fishing hamlet. Once you return, there’s an option to take a tour or view Shakespear’s Love’s Labour’s Lost at the spectacular open-air Minack Theatre, perched on the Cornish Cliffs. Afterwards, drive on to Newlyn Harbour, famed for having one of the richest fishing ground in the Northern Hemisphere. Have dinner celebrating sustainable local cuisine before heading to your hotel in nearby Penzance.

Day 6 - Wednesday 24th July - St Michael's Mount & Porthleven

Your final full day on the South Cornish Coast won’t disappoint with a tour of the historic castle, St Michael’s Mount followed by lunch overlooking Mount’s Bay in Marazion. In the afternoon, venture up the coast up to Porthleven, the most southerly Port in Britian, with the option to hike the National Trust headland of Rinsey Head to take in spectacular views of the Lizard coast. Keep your eyes peeled for rare Cornish Coughs. Upon return into Penzance, drop off your hire car and end the day with dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 7 - Thursday 25th July - Penzance Departure

After breakfast, make your way to Penzance train station to depart back to London, enjoying one of Britains most scenic train journeys.
