Day 1 - Sunday 5th October - Ireland - Céad míle fáilte - One Hundred Thousand Welcomes

Céad míle fáilte – one hundred thousand welcomes – to the Rebel County of Cork. Upon arrival, collect your rental car and make your way to the beautiful coastal down of Kinsale. With your late afternoon arrival, the rest of the evening offers time to explore at a relaxed pace. We’ll hit the ground running in the morning with many an Irish site to explore!

Day 2 - Monday 6th October - Visit Blarney Castle and Discover Kinsale

A visit to Blarney Castle is a must for anyone exploring Ireland’s rich history and charm. Nestled in the lush countryside of County Cork, this 15th-century fortress is famed worldwide for the legendary Blarney Stone—kiss it and be gifted with the “gift of the gab”! Beyond the stone, the castle’s expansive grounds offer a magical experience, from the mystical Rock Close with its druidic past to tranquil gardens, hidden waterfalls, and winding woodland paths.

A foodie haven and the end of the Wild Atlantic Way, Kinsale is a bolthole for Ireland’s most culinary-minded, and it’s pretty harbour with mystical sea views is an idyllic place for an adventure. This afternoon, you’ll embark on a delightful culinary journey where every bite tells a story of tradition, innovation, and local flavour. As your local guide regales you with stories of the town, enjoy fresh seafood, artisan cheeses, and vibrant produce sourced from nearby farms.

Day 3 - Tuesday 7th October - Killarney National Park

This morning, depart the colourful harbour town of Kinsale and enjoy a scenic coastal drive westward, taking in dramatic seascapes, charming villages, and sweeping Atlantic views along the Wild Atlantic Way. Arrive in Killarney by early afternoon, where you’ll meet your private guide for an unforgettable guided cycling tour of Killarney National Park. Pedal through one of Ireland’s most iconic landscapes, past ancient woodlands, shimmering lakes, and historic sites such as Muckross House and Ross Castle—all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks mountains. Day 4 - Wednesday 8th October - Ring of Kerry

After departing Killarney, your journey takes you through the postcard-perfect village of Adare, known for its quaint thatched cottages, historic buildings, and beautifully manicured streets. From there, continue to the magnificent Dromoland Castle, nestled in the heart of the lush Irish countryside. In the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the estate’s many offerings—whether it’s trying your hand at falconry, enjoying a round of golf, or indulging in a serene spa treatment. Day 6 - Friday 10th October - Cliffs of Moher and Exploring Dublin

Towering 702 feet above the roaring Atlantic and stretching for over five miles, the cliffs offer awe-inspiring views that are nothing short of cinematic. Later this afternoon, begin your return to Dublin, where you’ll drop off your rental car and enjoy the freedom to explore the city at your own pace — whether it’s a quiet pint in a cosy pub, a stroll through historic streets, or a taste of Irish hospitality.

Day 7 - Saturday 11th October - History and Leisure in Dublin

There is no better introduction to Dublin than a private walking tour with a local guide so after a bite to eat head out to see the best of the city. Your guide is also a historian who will share the stories, characters, and events that have shaped Dublin through the centuries.

Set out on a relaxed exploration of Dublin, often described as a city with a village feel. With many of its highlights within easy walking distance, the joy lies in wandering its cobbled streets and happening upon quiet squares, lively pubs, and layers of history. Walk along Grafton Street, where buskers fill the air with music, or take a peaceful stroll through the leafy paths of St. Stephen’s Green. Along the way, discover the city’s literary and political past, soaking up the character and charm that defines Ireland’s capital.

Day 8 - Sunday 12th October - Welcome to Scotland!

This morning a private transfer will collect your from your Dublin accommodation and bring you to the airport for your onward connections.

On arrival at Edinburgh Airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

If you arrive with time to spare then you can drop your luggage for the hotel reception to keep safe, and head down to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. This elegant palace is situated at the foot of Arthur’s Seat and is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland.

Day 9 - Monday 13th October - Exploring Historic Edinburgh & Surrounding Area

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you join a small group walking tour with a local city guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital as you wander up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past.

At lunchtime you will be met by your main guide (who will also act as your driver for your time together), and you will head out of the city to visit a couple of key Outlander sights. Linlithgow Palace is the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots as well as masquerading as Wentworth Prison in Season One of Outlander. Also spend some time exploring the 15th-century Blackness Castle overlooking the Firth of Forth, which is used as the setting for “Black Jack” Randall’s Fort William headquarters in the series. The ex-artillery fortress is often referred to as “the ship that never sailed” due to its unusual shape. Your guide will drop you back at your hotel, and the evening is free for you to enjoy the Edinburgh culinary options.

Note: Unfortunately Hopetoun House closes for the season on the 28th Sept 2025, so a visit here will not be possible.

Day 10 - Tuesday 14th October - Immerse Yourselves in Outlander Locations in The Kingdom Of Fife

Step back in time to the world of Outlander today as you discover several fascinating locations used in the filming of the ‘Outlander’ series. Walk the picturesque cobbled streets of the Royal Burgh of Culross, a once-bustling port. Imagine life in those turbulent times as you enjoy views over the glittering Firth.Continue onwards and stop in to visit the impressive Doune Castle, which you may recognise as ‘Castle Leoch’ from the Outlander series. This used to be a Royal residence but has also been used as a backdrop for filming Game Of Thrones and Monty Python.

Visit Falkland Palace, a Royal pleasure palace beloved by Mary Queen Of Scots with fabulous tapestries and artworks that are hundreds of years old. See the oldest surviving real Tennis Court, walk in the beautiful grounds and explore the basement Apothecary (used in season 2). Then head onwards to your welcoming accommodation in charming Pitlochry.

Day 11 - Wednesday 15th October - North To Inverness via The Cairngorms National Park

Today you head north to Inverness, stopping to explore the beautiful Cairngorms National Park on the way. Discover the Highland Folk Museum, an open-air museum with recreated historic buildings and exhibits that showcase traditional Highland life, from the 1700s to the 1950s. Wander through recreated cottages, farms, and workshops, each telling the story of Scotland’s rural past. With its immersive displays and beautiful surroundings, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the daily lives and customs of Highland communities through the centuries, and was a key filming location for Outlander too.

Take the opportunity for a short scenic hike here, maybe admiring the views at Tulloch Ghru or wandering by the shores of a sprarkling mountain loch. Your guide will discuss the best options with you. Then head north to your welcoming accommodation in Inverness.

Day 12 - Thursday 16th October - Culloden Battlefield, Loch Ness & Beauly Priory

Immerse yourselves in atmospheric Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last battle of the Jacobite rising in 1746 with many tales to tell. Then heed the calling of the standing stones at Clava Cairns (said to be the inspiration behind the standing stone in the Outlander series). The Bronze Age burial chambers here date back over 4000 years and are a great example of prehistoric history in Scotland. Then visit Urquhart Castle on the shores of mysterious Loch Ness. Keep your eyes peeled for the monster while you explore the magnificent ruins of Urquhart Castle. This was once one of Scotland’s largest castles and due to its strategic position, it played a key role during the Wars of Independence.

This afternoon take in the tranquil peace of Beauly Priory, which is where they filmed the scene where Claire meets the seer Maisri. The rest of the afternoon is flexible so your guide will discuss the options with you. Maybe take a relaxing stroll along the seashore and see if you can spot the local dolphin pod leaping out of the waves. Your guide will take you back to your hotel before they depart, leaving you to enjoy a last free evening in Scotland.

Day 13 - Friday 17th October - Depart
