Day by Day

Day 1 - Friday 4th October - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Saturday 5th October - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past. Your guide will leave you here so that you can spend as much time in the castle as you wish.

You then have a free afternoon to continue explorations at your own pace, pick up souvenirs or relax as you prefer.

Day 3 - Sunday 6th October - Food Safari & Free Afternoon

Embark on a culinary adventure in Leith, where the streets are alive with tantalising aromas and diverse flavours. You will explore the vibrant fusion of global cuisines and eclectic eateries tucked away in charming alleyways. With your appetite satiated, why not spend the rest of the afternoon wandering the streets of Leith, discovering  hidden gems and boutique shops. Or perhaps head back into the bustling ancient cobblestone streets and to explore the charming cafe’s.

Day 4 - Monday 7th October - Transfer to Loch Lomond, Botanic Gardens & Meet your Guide

Today you will meet your guide who will be with you for the next few days. Together you will pick up your hire vehicles and begin the next part of your journey. Travel to the characterful city of Glasgow and stop at the beautiful Botanic Gardens, where lush greenery and vibrant blooms create a serene oasis amidst the urban hustle. Stroll through the picturesque pathways lined with exotic plants, pausing to admire the colourful displays and fragrant gardens.

Enjoy lunch before continuing on to the spectacular Loch Lomond. With its pristine waters reflecting the surrounding rugged mountains, this place offers a serene escape in the heart of Scotland’s breathtaking beauty.  Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying your luxury hotel.

Day 5 - Tuesday 8th October - Castles & Transfer to Islay

Today you leave the shores of Loch Lomond behind and make your way to the rugged island of Islay. En route, perhaps stop off to learn of the local history at Inveraray Castle (subject to availability). You may choose to visit Kilmartin Glen, home to the largest collection of Neolithic artefacts in Europe and Dunadd Fort, which is where the King of the Picts were crowned the first Kings of Scotland. Enjoy time exploring the museum and the glen with all the wonderful artefacts with your guide, learning more about the history of Scotland. Later, step on board the ferry to continue your journey to Islay, where the promise of rugged coastlines, peat-smoked whiskies, and warm island hospitality awaits you.

Day 6 - Wednesday 9th October - Whisky & Gin

This morning have time at leisure, or perhaps head out with your guide to learn of the local history and visit the nearby sights. Later, experience a memorable afternoon of whisky and Gin tasting on this enchanting island. Distilleries here boast their own unique flavours and traditions. Discover the unique time-honoured techniques used to shape each tipple as you taste your way around the island.

Day 7 - Thursday 10th October - Exploring Islay

Today explore the island, from the rugged coastlines to charming villages steeped in history and tradition, to ancient ruins and lighthouses there are so many options to explore. Your guide will be on hand to discuss the options with you and depending on how you are feeling they will help you make the most of your morning. This afternoon,  spend time on the south coast to visit 3 of the Islands best known distilleries, Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaig. With each sip you’ll discover the rich heritage and distinctive character that make Islay whiskies truly unforgettable. Dependant on the weather and energy levels, you may choose to walk between the distilleries, to breathe the fresh sea and admire the coastal views.

Day 8 - Friday 11th October - Transfer to Gleneagles

Today, board your ferry back to the mainland and journey in convoy with your guide to the luxurious Gleneagles Hotel. There are plenty of stops on the way whether you want to visit a historic castle, stop at a scenic viewpoint or take a short walk in the spectacular Scottish scenery. Your guide will be there to help you decide and help you make the most of your transfer day.

Arriving at Gleneagles, your guide will depart this evening once you are settled in leaving you to explore the beautiful hotel and it’s surroundings or simply rest and relax for the night.

Day 9 - Saturday 12th October - Free Day to Explore Gleneagles & Golf

Today is free for you to use the world class facilities of your hotel. Perhaps take a stroll round the grounds, enjoy the many activities on offer or perhaps relax in the stunning spa.

For those that would like to, there are 3 world class golf courses on the grounds of the hotel,  one of which has hosted the famous Ryder Cup. Why not enjoy a day on the manicured fairways, surrounded by stunning Scottish scenery, the epitome of a golfer’s paradise.

Day 10 - Sunday 13th October - Transfer to Edinburgh, Stirling Castle & the Kelpies

Today you return to the capital. On the way stop to explore the majestic Stirling Castle, where centuries of history came to life amidst towering stone walls, grand halls, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.  Why not also stop at the Kelpies, monuments of Scotland’s mythical past. Their gleaming steel forms capturing the imagination of all who behold them.

Arriving in Edinburgh, make your way to the Balmoral Hotel in the heart of the city. Perhaps arrange to drop off your hire cars en route before time at leisure in your luxurious hotel, to make the most of your final night.

Day 11 - Monday 14th October - Depart
