Day by Day

Day 1 - Monday 29th September - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by your experienced driver guide, who will whisk you away out of the city. First stop is the historic Stirling Castle. An iconic Scottish landmark, it serves as a symbol of great pride as it overlooks the city. Take some time to explore the grounds and get a sense of the grandeur of the location.

Once you have had your fill of the Castle continue on into the heart of Perthshire. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy some time to relax after a long day.

Day 2 - Tuesday 30th September - Walking in Perthshire

After a hearty Scottish breakfast, meet your guide and head out into the Perthshire countryside. There are a plethora of amazing walks for you to choose from depending on how you are feeling. Options include:

  • The Hermitage and Braan Walk – this 7km walk takes you through woodland and beautiful foliage, towards picturesque waterfalls.
  • Fiddlers Path – this 10.5km walk follows the river tay upstream before allowing you to return on the other side, taking in stunning trees and ruined buildings.
  • Inver Walk and Pine Cone Point – this 10.6km trail follows a similar route to the Hermitage walk, before diverting off towards Pine Cone Point, offering stunning views.

Day 3 - Wednesday 1st October - Into The Valley of Glencoe

Today after breakfast meet your guide and head for the stunning valley of Glencoe. Sit back and relax as you travel through rolling hills, into rugged ridge lines. There are plenty of amazing locations on route to stop off and enjoy a walk before you reach your accommodation for the evening.

Day 4 - Thursday 2nd October - Steam Train & 'Road to the Isles'

Ready your wands this morning as you step aboard the Jacobite Steam Train for a magical journey to the coast in the train that featured in the Harry Potter films. Puff your way through glorious mountain scenes and over the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, hopefully with no flying cars though! On arrival at Mallaig you will be met by your guide, before boarding the ferry across to Skye. Once on Skye, enjoy a truly scenic drive as you head for the islands capital, Portree, and your accommodation for the next few days.

Day 5 - Friday 3rd October - Wild Loch Coruisk & The Black Cuillin Mountains

Feeling rested, head south with your guide, arriving in Elgol – a tiny hamlet scattered along the western cliffs of the Strathaird peninsula. From a small jetty, board the charming Bella Jane and sail over Loch Scavaig into the very heart of the Black Cuillin. As the lovely first mate provides some fascinating history about the surrounding islands, look for sleepy seals lounging on the warm rocks. Upon reaching the shore, leave the boat to explore Loch Coruisk, also known as the Cauldron of the Waters, a deep dark loch that stretches like a shadow below the impressive volcanic peaks. Choose to walk around the loch or simply enjoy the views of what is considered by many to be one of the wildest and most spectacular views in Scotland.

Day 6 - Saturday 4th October - The Capital of the Highlands

Bid farewell to Skye as you return to mainland Scotland. Enjoy the views as you make your way past lochs, mountains, forests, and ruined castles. You will make your way to Scotland’s most famous loch, Loch Ness. A stop at the ruins of Urquhart Castle offers a dive into history, learning about it’s role in Scotland’s past, whilst offering truly stunning views of Loch Ness and the surrounding area.

Day 7 - Sunday 5th October - The Moray Coast

This morning it is time to explore the Moray coastline, stretching east from Inverness. There are plenty of great walking options on offer today including:

  • Culbin Forest and the Gut – this 9.5km walk is a great walk for bird spotting and takes your through some tidal mudflats.
  • Findhorn Circular – a shorter 4.5km route that takes your around the charming village of Findhorn on the coast. This offers lovely views out to sea.
  • River Nairn Circuit – a gentle 5km walk that take sin both banks of the river and the harbour it flows through into the sea.

On your way back to Inverness, a stop at Fort George offers the chance for stunning views out to sea from one of Europe’s most outstanding fortifications. Build in the 1700’s it stands proudly on the coastline.

Day 8 - Monday 6th October - Through The Cairngorms National Park

Today you head south into Scotland’s biggest National Park, The Cairngorms. A stop in Glenmore offers you the chance to head out for a walk in peaceful woodland as you make your way along excellent trails that will give a true sense of wilderness.

Continue south, as you head for your accommodation in the charming town of Pitlochry. Upon arrival take some time to explore the small town and it’s quaint shops, offering you a perfect chance to pick up souvenirs from your time in Scotland.

Day 9 - Tuesday 7th October - The Capital of Scotland

Meet your guide after breakfast and head for the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh. Upon arrival into the city, your guide will take you to your city centre hotel, where you can drop your bags, before your guide bids their farewell.

You will then meet a local city guide for an afternoon walking tour of Edinburgh. Head out and explore the famous streets of old town Edinburgh as you learn about some of the history of this great city. You will also get a chance to explore the castle sitting high above the city as you get the chance to explore this location and take in the stunning views from the castle walls.

Day 10 - Wednesday 8th October - Depart

A private transfer will collect you from your accommodation and take you to the airport to make your onward connections. Waving farewell for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.
