Overview

Picturesque coastal towns and villages, green pastoral fields, soaring cliffs, wild barren landscapes, the crash of the ocean, the laugh of a local. Ireland is romantic, and authentic, a home away from home where both old and modern seem to cohabit seamlessly on a small island in the middle of the sea. Packed with history and tradition your days are spent exploring Ireland’s famous and off-the-beaten-track sites of natural, cultural, and ancient interest. A world-renowned food scene means your evenings are spent dining in style and with the promise of a pub just around the corner, music and laughter are never far away. Your trip to Ireland will surprise and delight you but the people of Ireland will stay with you, long after your journey has taken you home.

Highlights

Day by Day

Day 1 - Tuesday 10th June - Arrival In Ireland

Céad míle fáilte! One hundred thousand welcomes to Ireland’s ‘Wild West’, a region of immense beauty, ancient history, and Irish tradition. This morning, your guide, Pearse, will meet you at Hotel Andara, The Marker Hotel, Dublin and transfer you to Connemara, once described as “a savage beauty” by author Oscar Wilde.

En route, we take the opportunity to explore Galway a little with a stroll about with your driver guide, Pearse. Visit the Spanish Arch, wander through the cobbled streets and try to catch a glimpse of a Galway Hooker, a traditional wooden boat still used today.

Your transfer to Ballynahinch Castle in the heart of Connemara’s wild landscapes is around 90 minutes.

This evening, check in to Ballynahinch Castle in the heart of Connemara’s wild landscapes and dine in the on-site Fishermans Pub.

Watch and marvel as the supremely intelligent sheepdog manoeuvres the flock down the mountain to the safety of their pen with only a whistle to signal the instructions.

From there, after a pit stop at a local café or pub for lunch, a hike along an abandoned famine route on the southern shoreline of the fjord before we transfer back to Ballynahinch Castle where you can freshen up for your evening dinner in nearby Clifden.

From Ashford, we make our way further south, leaving Galway and entering Clare home to The Burren National Park. Visit the iconic Cliffs of Moher later in the day when the majority of the crowds have departed for uninterrupted views of the Atlantic OCean stretching before you. Spend the day exploring The Burren with your tour guide from prehistoric stone forts to lunch at a boutique perfumery. Along the way, we stop at a farm to visit the animals and take a hands-on lesson in traditional bread and scone baking. A truly Irish day.

Me In Three – People | Passion | Adventure

I am a keen Gaeilgeoir (Irish speaker) with a passion for the history and heritage of the Emerald Isle. I feel privileged to be in a position to showcase Ireland to those willing to experience it through adventure. Packing up the boat, bike or campervan has and always will give me happiness.

Favourite Place to Play

After spending years wandering remote areas of the world trying to find the ideal hideaway, I’ve come to realise that the most beautiful place in the world has been on my doorstep this whole time. The lakes, mountains, shores and rivers of Connemara have everything an outdoor enthusiast could ever dream of exploring.

Not a lot of People Know This

I was so cold one time, I asked a Bedouin man on camelback to buy the socks he was wearing. They stank. I still have them.
