Black Tomato - Robyn Metcalfe's West Coast Adventure

Friday 16th August – Monday 19th August 2024

Duration: 4 Days / 3 Nights

Day by Day

Day 1 - Friday 16th August - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at Edinburgh airport you will be met by the VIP team and whisked seamlessly through the airport to your awaiting guide who will also be your driver for the next 3 days.  From here, you will head north out of the city ready to start your West Coast Adventure.

Your first stop is at Bannockburn, the site of Robert the Bruce’s famous victory over the English.  Meet a local storyteller here who will bring the landscape to life as you imagine what it was like for the soldiers on that day before exploring the site itself with it’s incredible 3D technology that brings the feel of the battle into where you are standing.

Continue on through the winding roads of Loch Lomond and the epic peaks of Glencoe before arriving at your castle hotel for the night to rest and relax before you kayaking adventure tomorrow.

Overnight: Near Fort William | Inverlochy Castle Hotel
Room Type: Walled Garden Attic Suite
Meals Included: Lunch

Day 2 - Saturday 17th August - Kayaking off the West Coast

Today bring something super special as you head along one of the most scenic roads in the UK from the mountains to the coast.  Arriving on the shores of the Atlantic, you’ll meet up with your expert kayak guide and climb aboard your home for the next day or so.  Heading out into the sea, you’ll think that perhaps you have arrived in the Caribbean as the crystal clear waters and the white golden sands of the little islands and hamlets that are dotted along the coastline.  Let everything wash away as you glide along, perhaps stopping to catch some mussels to cook later, or greeting one of the curious seals that will pop their heads up to say hello.

In the late afternoon, you will arrive at a deserted island where you will set up camp before enjoying some stories around the campfire and dinner under the stars before turning in for the night.

Overnight: Camping
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3 - Sunday 18th August - Back to the mainland

After a restful night under canvas, you will head back to the mainland today taking as long as you like depending on the weather and your energy levels.

Once back on dry land there will be the option to enjoy a hike in the iconic Nevis Range for the afternoon, perhaps meeting a local ranger who will tell you all about their efforts to preserve the natural habitat while making sure access is safe and fair for everyone.  Learn how rewilding is helping the landscape and the wildlife before heading back to your castle hotel to rest after your epic expedition.

Day 4 - Monday 19th August - Return to Edinburgh

It is time to return to the bright lights of the city after your Wilderness Adventure.  There is one last experience for you before you arrive back in the capital city as you drive along the sweeping drive and arrive to the sound of bagpipes.  Glamis Castle was once the home of HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and was the inspiration for one of the most famous Shakespearean plays – Macbeth.  Explore the parts of the castle never normally open to the public and learn more about this incredible building and its integral part in the countries history.

After a wonderful morning enjoying this unique experience, you will head onwards to Edinburgh where your guide will drop you off at your accommodation and say farewell – leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
