Day by Day

Day 1 - Monday 30th June - Welcome to London

On arrival in London, transfer to your centrally located hotel and meet your local expert guide before heading out to explore.

Start with a visit to Churchill’s War Rooms, where you’ll step back in time and witness the nerve centre of Britain’s wartime operations. Absorb the atmosphere of this secret underground bunker on a behind-the-glass private tour gaining insight into the crucial decisions made during World War II. See the scratch marks still clearly visible on Churchill’s chair, a detail that can only be seen with Cabinet Room access.

From there, visit the Imperial War Museum, where immersive exhibits detail the global conflict, personal stories of courage, and the devastating impact of the Blitz on London. End the afternoon with a stroll along the Thames, leading you to the towering HMS Belfast, a preserved warship that played a pivotal role in D-Day. Day 2 - Tuesday 1st July - Wimbledon

Spend today at Wimbledon on Centre Court. Your experience begins with a private transfer from your hotel, allowing you to arrive in style before taking your seat in the exclusive Centre Court, surrounded by an electric atmosphere, with the crowd’s energy palpable as each match unfolds. Between games, indulge in traditional strawberries and cream, paired with a glass of Pimm’s.

Day 3 - Wednesday 2nd July - White Cliffs of Dover and Canterbury

Today, start with a short train ride and visit to the White Cliffs of Dover on a journey through natural beauty and rich history. After meeting your local guide, begin at the iconic White Cliffs, absorbing the breathtaking views across the English Channel. Evoking poignant memories of World War II, these cliffs stood as a symbol of hope and resilience on the front line. Explore the wartime tunnels at the iconic Dover Castle, where secret operations were conducted during the war, and imagine the soldiers who once guarded this vital coastline.

Afterwards, travel to the historic city of Canterbury and visit Canterbury Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and key target during the Baedeker Raids of the war. Day 4 - Thursday 3rd July - A Day at Leisure

A leisurely day in London offers a perfect blend of shopping and relaxation amidst the city’s lush green parks.

Perhaps your morning with a stroll down Oxford Street, where you can explore an array of flagship stores and boutique shops. As you make your way through the bustling streets, take a detour to the charming Covent Garden, where quaint shops and street performers create a lively atmosphere. After a morning of retail therapy, perhaps retreat to one of London’s iconic green parks, where you can unwind with a leisurely walk or a quiet moment by the serene Serpentine Lake.

Day 5 - Friday 4th July - Train North & Meet Your Private Scotland Guide

This morning, a private transfer will take you to catch the train from Paddington Station north to Glasgow. Enjoy the scenic journey as the train swiftly carries you through the rolling countryside of England and into the rugged landscapes of Scotland. The comfortable ride offers stunning views, culminating in your arrival at Glasgow, where your private Scotland Guide awaits to greet you.

Your Guide will also act as your driver for your time together, so you can dive right into your Scottish adventures. Depending on your arrival time you may have time to stop off and explore some of the magnificent halls and collections of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Admire the fully restored Spitfire Fighter Plane suspended above the West Court before you head to the tranquillity of your hotel in the Trossachs.

Day 6 - Saturday 5th July - North to Enthralling Glencoe

Your guide will meet you at your hotel this morning and together you head north to explore the stunning scenery of Glencoe. These dramatic mountains and ridges have featured as the backdrop in many films and once you are looking up at these summits it is easy to see why!

Today you will explore this famous valley with your guide, there are plenty of options to suit every level of energy and challenge. After your hike settle down with a celebratory beverage in a traditional climbers pub and listen to local legends and fascinating tales of the dark past of Glencoe told by a local storyteller. Your guide will then take you onwards to your unique castle hotel, beloved of Queen Victoria.

Day 7 - Sunday 6th July - Exploring Oban & The Isle of Kerrera

This morning you head down the coast to take a tiny ferry across to the Isle of Kerrera, where you can take your time hiking and exploring the whole island with your guide. Discover the ruins of Gylen Castle and enjoy amazing views across the sea to the Inner Hebrides before you relax in the welcoming tea room.

Returning to the mainland, take some time to explore the harbour town of Oban. Finish the afternoon with a tour of the distillery which prides itself on being older than the town itself. Slainte Mhath!

Day 8 - Monday 7th July - Jacobite Express & Over The Sea To Skye

Step aboard the Jacobite Steam Train this morning for a magical journey to the coast in the train that featured in the Harry Potter films. Puff your way through glorious mountain scenes and over the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, hopefully with no flying cars though! On arrival at Mallaig you will be met by your guide and enjoy lunch before a short ferry ride will take you over the sea onto the misty isle itself.

Day 9 - Tuesday 8th July - Exploring Skye

Today you have a full day to explore some of the special corners of this magical island with your guide. You will be spoilt for choice with fascinating history and dramatic landscape on offer, with unique hiking routes through stark and unusual rock formations and sweeping coast and mountain views to enjoy in almost every direction. This ‘misty isle’ is also home to many artisans and so many curious stories and legends of fairies and islander culture, your guide will share some of the best hidden gems and personalise the day to your interests.

Day 10 - Wednesday 9th July - Return To The Mainland & Blair Castle

Return to the mainland over the graceful arc of the Skye bridge this morning, and enjoy the scenery as you skirt the fringes of the Cairngorms National Park on the way to your welcoming castle hotel. There are many options for superb leg stretches along the way, depending on your inclination.

This afternoon near the end of your journey stop to immerse yourself in the fascinating history of Blair Castle, home of the Atholl family for over seven centuries. Home to politicians, soldiers, agriculturalists and entrepreneurs over the years, it was also used as school and safe haven for city kids evacuated to the countryside in WWII. This castle is the home of the only remaining Private Army in Europe with an incredible collection of weaponry.

Day 11 - Thursday 10th July - Cultybraggan Camp & Artisan Chocolates

Unexpectedly in this idyllic Highland Perthshire countryside, the last remaining Scottish Prisoner of War Camp of WWII awaits you this morning. Built to handle up to 4000 prisoners, many large personalities have passed through this site. A private guide will share the insights of the camp with you, a fascinating preserved slice of history.

This afternoon delight in lighter things with a walk in this beautiful countryside and maybe a wander in the village of Aberfeldy. Then visit to the local artisan chocolatier to taste some of their delectable truffles before heading back to your hotel for your last night in the Highlands.

Day 12 - Friday 11th July - Transfer To Edinburgh

Day 13 - Saturday 12th July - Depart
