Day by Day

Day 1 - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at Edinburgh airport you will be met by your private transfer driver who will take you to your city centre hotel.  The rest of the day is yours to start exploring the city or simply relaxing at your hotel.  This evening you will start your Scottish experience with a tour of the catacombs of the Royal Mile and learn how people used to live here during the 15th century.

Day 2 - Exploring Edinburgh

The winding cobbled streets and the impressive architecture of the city inspires visitors from all over the world and today you are going to delve into more of the lesser known places with your guide. Visit the well known sites as well as the small nooks and crannies of the city and really get under this vibrant city’s skin. If Harry Potter is of interest you can visit the street that inspired Diagon Alley and Greyfriars Kirk. Keep your eyes peeled to see what famous names you can find on the stones as you wander around.  The rest of the day is free to explore, perhaps a visit to the castle or a walk up Arthur’s Seat to see the city spread out before you and the iconic bridges spanning the Firth of Forth to the Highlands where your journey will be taking you tomorrow.

Day 3 - Heading North

Your main driver guide will collect you from your hotel and you will start your adventure into the Scottish Highlands. Your first stop on the journey will be for a leg stretch at a beautiful woodland that leads to a giant waterfall and a Georgian Folly. Breathe in the smell of the towering Scots Pines and the clean Scottish air before continuing north to a small croft, that really epitomizes what the locals are trying to achieve in this wonderful landscape. Take a tour of the land, hearing how these two fabulous women have worked the land for the last 4 years and their vision for the future generations to come and enjoy some home baked goods. Your accommodation for the next three nights is a glorious farmhouse in the heart of the Glenfeshie estate.

Day 4 - Spirit and Spice and All things Nice

Your destination today is at the peaceful and remote home of acclaimed chef Ghillie Basan.  Spend the day learning the art of spices and how to blend the perfect flavour as well as which whisky matches which spice the best. Also learn more about this incredible woman and how she ended up in this remote part of Scotland doing what she loves. Sitting out on her deck, dram in hand and with not another house in sight, take a moment to drink in the views and the stillness of this magical place

Day 5 - Wood Carving and Mountain Biking

The forests of the Cairngorms are home to many adventures and awesome activities and today you will try your hand at two. Your first stop is a clearing in the local forest near your accommodation where you will be met by a local wood carver and will spend the morning learning how to carve your very own souvenir. Listen to the calls of the local wildlife as you use tools to whittle away, enjoying this private tuition from your expert tutor. This afternoon the activity is more exhilarating as you take to the forest trails on your mountain bikes. Your guide will lead you through the ancient Caledonian forest, offering tips and tricks on the way to your destination, the highest beach in the UK. After a celebratory ice cream you will feel the wind rush through your hair as you coast downhill back through the forest to the start point.

Day 6 - Monsters and the North West Coast

As you head to the spectacular West Coast, you will visit beautiful Loch Ness, its serene waters shrouded in legendary tales.  Take to the water and enjoy a private boat trip across this incredible Loch, home of the fabled Loch Ness Monster!  Once on dry land you will make your way across the mountain range to the small hamlet of Torridon and your luxurious hotel on the shores of the loch. There are plenty of options on the way to stop, stretch your legs and enjoy some of the most incredible views in Scotland.

Day 7 - Sea Kayaking around Torridon

One of the best ways to see the local wildlife is by taking to the waters by sea kayak. The sheltered waters of the Loch provide the perfect place for learning paddling skills.  Led by your guide, you will paddle along beneath some of the most dramatic peaks in Scotland keeping your eyes peeled for the friendly seals or the white tailed eagles that have made this landscape their home and learn some new kayaking skills with your guide.  Return to your hotel to rest and relax for the afternoon or perhaps explore one of the walking trails that surround your hotel.

Day 8 - Hiking the Hills of Torridon

This part of Scotland has some of the most impressive peaks in the country and although this could be your destination today, there are also lots of other options that your guide will discuss with you.  One option for a high level hike could be Beinn Damh which offers a great introduction to hill climbing and incredible views of the mountains and the sea. Or perhaps you would prefer to opt for a low level walk where the views of two of the iconic mountains reflected in the lochs is one of the finest mountain views in Scotland. You will end the day back at your hotel to raise a glass to your Scottish Adventure and the memories that you will take home with you.

Day 9 - Return to Inverness

Your guide will take you back to Inverness airport today in time for your onward connections, taking with you memories of an adventure that will last a lifetime.
