With its timeless charm, thatched cottages and picturesque streets, its no wonder it was voted Ireland’s prettiest village. Enjoy a browse through the shops and some lunch before continuing on to Dingle. Your home for the next three nights dates back to 1969 when it was constructed as the first Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) Hotel. Settle in before heading out to one of the local pubs to find a traditional music session – there is always one to be had in Dingle!

Day 3 - Tuesday 14th May - Hiking Mount Brandon

Up for a challenge? Today you’ll meet an expert hiking guide and together you will make your way through the wildest part of Dingle, following a rough trail along the shoulder of Mount Brandon, a route often used by pilgrims to climb the holy mountain. According to legend, St Brendan had a vision of a “promised land” while seated at the mountain’s summit. He consequently set sail for his promised land and supposedly disembarked in 535 AD (900 years before Columbus) on American soil. Passing pre-historic Ogham stones and panoramic ocean views, the trail climbs over Mt Brandon’s saddle before descending into Brandon Bay and the teacup-sized Brandon Village. Back in town, we’ll recommend some of the best restaurants for dinner tonight.

Spot seabirds and marine wildlife such as whales, seals and porpoises and dolphins.

Before checking in to your accommodation, visit Ireland’s most-famous cliffs, the Cliffs of Moher, enjoying a walk along the dramatic cliff edge on a background of coastal panoramas. Your home for the next three nights is an 18th century manor house and a former retreat for poets and authors like J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. You’ll arrive in time for a cool pint of Guinness by the fire before dinner at its award-winning restaurant.

The unique, striated limestone landscape here was shaped by ancient seas and is famous for its Mediterranean and alpine wildflowers. The region is steeped in history as well, with over 2,500 historical monuments to be explored. You’ll have lunch at a local tearoom followed by a visit to the adjoining Burren Perfumery where only natural and organic ingredients are used in production. It’s the oldest working perfumery in Ireland! Options for dinner tonight include a Michelin starred organic restaurant not far from your accommodation.

The Aran islands seem to defy their size by all they have to offer: breathtaking scenery, medieval castles, cliffs and prehistoric forts are all to be found on this little group of islands.
