Overview

A wonderful thirteen day adventure exploring the beating heart of UK as well as getting off the beaten track to find the hidden gems only known to the locals. From the bright lights of London with its Royal connections and incredible museums to the Highland of Scotland where you can spend the day with just the sound of bird song for company.  Enjoy time as a family experiencing the best that the UK has to offer and take a small part of this ancient land home with you when you leave.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Friday 26th July - Welcome to London

On arrival into Heathrow you will be met by the VIP team and seamlessly whisked through security and immigration to your waiting cars to transfer you into the heart of the city and your 5* hotel opposite Hyde Park. The rest of the day is free to head out to enjoy a walk through the gardens, take a tour of the palace or simply relax at the hotel after your long journey.

Day 2 - Saturday 27th July - Highlights of London

You will be met at your hotel this morning by your local city guide and will set off to explore the city. Starting off with passing Buckingham Palace where you may see the changing of the guard, the famous ceremony where the Old Guard are replaced by the New Guard marching in from the Barracks accompanied by music. After a fantastic display of pomp and ceremony, it is just a short walk to the houses of parliament and the famous bell of Big Ben, sitting proudly on the bank of the River Thames. This afternoon, you will head across the Westminster bridge and enjoy a decadent afternoon tea with incredible views of the city.

Day 3 - Sunday 28th July - Shakespeare’s Globe and Trip on the Thames

One of the most famous of all playwrights is William Shakespeare, who wrote 39 plays and 154 sonnets in the 16th and 17th century including famous works such as Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream. Take a tour today of the replica of the Globe theatre that was built by Shakespeare and his fellow players in 1599 on the banks of the Thames. Head to parts of the theatre that are not normally accessible to the public and listen to the history of this incredible building. From here, you will board your private boat and spend an enjoyable afternoon gliding along the river – seeing all of the famous landmarks from a slightly different perspective before retiring to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 4 - Monday 29th July - Artists, Abbey’s and the Tower of London

After a couple of busy days, it is a more leisurely start to the morning with a few free hours to rest, relax or enjoy a short turn around the block should you wish. Once you are all ready, your first stop today will be following in the footsteps of one of the biggest music influencers in the world – The Beatles. With an expert guide, you will cross the iconic zebra crossing, visit Abbey Road and see where some of the music videos were shot. After being immersed in Beatlemania for the past couple of hours, it is time for some tranquil downtime in the cool, calm and impressive Westminster Abbey. Sitting in the Nave, with the light shimmering through the stained glass windows, take a beat to just be in the moment where Royalty were married and buried and British history is etched into the towering stone pillars and smooth flagstone floors.

A unique experience awaits you for your final night in the city as you head to the Tower of London for a private viewing of the Crown Jewels. Hear about the importance of these jewels to the British Monarchy and the role the Tower plays in protecting them while taking time to view the collection with your own personal guide.

Day 5 - Tuesday 30th July - The Magical World of Harry Potter

Leaving the hustle and bustle of London behind, you embark on a magical journey to the Harry Potter Warner Bros Studios, situated just outside the city. As you enter the enchanting world of wizardry, iconic sets, costumes, and props from the beloved film series greet you. Walking through the Great Hall and exploring the intricacies of Diagon Alley, it feels like stepping into the pages of J.K. Rowling’s imagination. The behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of the films adds a layer of appreciation for the craftsmanship involved. After a day filled with wizardry wonders, you transition to the serene countryside and arrive at Lucknam Park. This elegant estate, nestled amidst picturesque landscapes, provides the perfect retreat for you to unwind. The luxurious surroundings, impeccable service, and fine dining at Lucknam Park cap off your day with a touch of sophistication, creating lasting memories of a day filled with both magic and tranquility.

Day 6 - Wednesday 31st July - Exploring Bath

Spend the day exploring the stunning city of Bath with your guide. As the beautiful Georgian architecture presses honey-yellow against the blue sky, soak in the sights and sounds of a city founded by the Romans for well-being and relaxation. Take the opportunity to visit the Roman Baths, afterwards treating yourself to an afternoon tea in a place rich and evocative with history. Enjoy a self-guided exploration of Bath, perhaps a visit to the Victoria Arts Gallery, a tranquil and thought-provoking place beyond the colourful and bustling streets. Spend the afternoon under your own steam, taking the time to immerse yourself in Bath’s remarkable collection of museums and independent shops before returning to your hotel for the evening.

Day 7 - Thursday 1st August - Exploring the Cotswolds

After a busy few days you can have a more leisurely pace today – perhaps even choosing to just stay at the hotel and taking advantage of the leisure facilities.  Your guide will be on hand however, should you wish to head out to explore some of the nearby countryside.  Perhaps head to the mythical Avebury, where ancient standing stones whisper tales of a bygone era. Wander through the mystical stone circles and absorb the enigmatic energy that permeates the surroundings. Alternatively, set out to explore the charming villages and rolling hills of the Cotswolds, where quintessential English beauty unfolds at every turn.  The choice is entirely up to you!

Day 8 - Friday 2nd August - Transfer to Scotland

It is time to head north for the last part of your UK adventure.  Your guide will drop you off at Bristol airport this morning in time for you to board your flight north of the border.  Arriving into Edinburgh the VIP team will meet you and you’ll be escorted to meet your Scottish guide who will be with you for the next few days.  Heading out of the city the first stop will be at Stirling Castle where you can follow in the steps of royalty as you walk through the hallowed halls.  See where Mary Queen of Scots played as a child and of course, see the incredible restoration of the Great Hall back to it’s 16th century glory.  After an afternoon steeped in history, you will head to the luxurious hotel in the heart of Perthshire and rest your head after a busy day.

Day 9 - Saturday 3rd August - Activities at Gleneagles

Spend the day at the Glorious playground indulging in everything they have to offer.  From Gun dogs to Golf, Fishing to Falconry and from Off Roading to relaxing in the spa – there is something for everyone and your guide will also be on hand to take you out to explore the undulating hills of the Perthshire countryside should you wish to venture off the estate.

Day 10 - Sunday 4th August - Canoeing on Loch Tay and stepping back in time

In the soft, whispery light, quietly launch your canoes into the tranquil waters of Loch Tay for a morning spent exploring the glassy beauty of this deep, dark loch. With your expert guide, paddle along the peaceful shores, eventually beaching your boats in the perfect spot for a picnic with breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. After lunch, explore the crannog – which you will have spotted as you paddled past. This roundhouse (perched on stilts in the water) is a reconstructed iron age dwelling. Learn about what life would have been like for people living here over 2500 years ago before returning to Gleneagles for one last night.

Day 11 - Monday 5th August - South to Edinburgh

Leaving the hills of Perthshire behind and head to the bright lights of the city this morning to enjoy your last few days in the capital of this ancient land.

Arriving in Edinburgh at lunchtime, your guide will say goodbye and the rest of the day is free for you to explore the city and take in the sights and smells of the fringe festival or simply rest and relax at your hotel after your incredible Scottish adventure.

Day 12 - Tuesday 6th August - The Fringe Festival and the Royal Military Tattoo

The streets of Edinburgh will be buzzing with energy due to the various festivals running this month and you will pass street performers and entertainment on every corner as you explore. Follow your curiosity through the twisting cobbled streets of the Old Town and enjoy the vibrant ambience. Your expert Fringe guide will be on hand to take you off the beaten path to show you some of the hidden gems away from the crowds and tickets can be secured to various shows should you wish. Soak in the atmosphere as you walk along – this is truly a spectacle that you will never forget.

This evening make the most of your final night in Scotland as you experience the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.  Enjoy dinner in the Gatehouse of the Castle before heading to the Royal Gallery to take your seats for the spectacular of Scottish dancing and music. The evening will end with fireworks that will light up the Edinburgh sky.

Day 13 - Wednesday 7th August - Depart
