Day by Day

Day 1 - Monday 26th May - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Tuesday 27th May - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past. Your guide will leave you here so that you can spend as much time in the castle as you wish.

You then have a free afternoon to continue explorations at your own pace, pick up souvenirs or relax as you prefer.

Day 3 - Wednesday 28th May - Meet Your Guide & North to Speyside

This morning you will meet your private Scotland guide (who will also act as your driver for your time together) and begin your journey North to Speyside. Enjoy watching the scenery become more mountainous as you head north and hear some of the tales of this landscape from your guide as you go. This afternoon enjoy a true Scottish welcome with a tour and tasting at a classic distillery. Slainte!

Note: Drive time from Edinburgh to Speyside is approx 3.5 hrs, depending on traffic and without stops.

Day 4 - Thursday 29th May - The Heart of Whisky Country

This morning immerse yourself in the heart of the whisky industry in the Speyside Cooperage, where whisky casks are created or repaired using traditional methods.  You will see the fruits of their labour in distillery warehouses all over Scotland, but here you can see the processes in action at incredible speed.

The rest of the day you can enjoy visiting some of the best distilleries in the world, with your guide acting as your driver. This area is world renowned for unique and exceptional single malts.  Enjoy unique distillery tours and tastings at two household names, discovering the intricate process of whisky production from milling the barley to distillation in copper stills.  End each tour with a special tastings, enjoying a distinct yet complementary whisky experience.

At the end of the day your guide will take you back to your welcoming hotel.

Day 5 - Friday 30th May - Transfer to the Lake District

Today your Scotland guide will take you to the station to catch your train south to the lush landscape of the Lake District in England.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenic journey. On arrival you will be met by your private Lake District guide (who will also act as your driver for your time together). Depending on your time of arrival you can choose to head straight to your welcoming hotel, or maybe spend a bit of time exploring and getting a sense of this charming area with your guide.

Day 6 - Saturday 31st May - Ullswater Steamer & Explorations

Board a historic steamship taking you along Ullswater all the way to Howtown on the far East side. Stepping ashore here you can choose to go and admire the tumbling water of Aria Falls, take a stroll along the shores of the lake with your guide, or simply complete the boat trip, finishing back at your starting point.

No matter which you choose we would always recommend topping at a charming tea room on route for tea and cake. It was after a walk along this part of Ullswater that William Wordsworth wrote his most famous poem, ‘Daffodils’, with the line “I wandered lonely as a cloud”. Who could help but be inspired by these wonderful views? There are so many charming spots to explore locally, so you can discuss your preferences with your guide and head back to your hotel to relax when you wish.

Day 7 - Sunday 1st June - Beatrix Potter & Charming Villages

Today you head south further into the heart of the Lake District past the deep waters of Lake Windermere on the way to the charming Hill Top house, Beatrix Potter’s historic farmhouse which is full of her favourite things. A short walk takes you to Moss Eccles Tarn, where she spent much of her time painting and inventing stories for Peter Rabbit and her other characters. You don’t need to be a child to be captivated and inspired by the world she created in this beautiful landscape.

Spend some time being delighted at the quaint views as you wander the streets of charming Ambleside, where the stone built houses and shops all cosied together here in the valley. And on the way back to you hotel, it is definitely worth a stop in Grasmere to pick up some of their famous gingerbread.

Day 8 - Monday 2nd June - Transfer to Bath

Your Lake District Guide will take you to the train station this morning to catch your train south to Birmingham. Here you will be met by your private guide for Southern England (who will also act as your driver for your time together) and head out to start exploring with a charming foodie tour. Enjoy delectable bites and snippets of history as you discover some hidden gems.

Note: Our guides have an absolute maximum driving time of 4.5 hours per day, for safety and client experience, hence the switch.

Day 9 - Tuesday 3rd June - Exploring Bath

Head out this morning with your guide to enjoy a wonderful walking tour of the city, from the tranquility of Bath Abbey to the iconic Baths. As the beautiful Georgian architecture presses honey-yellow against the blue sky, soak in the sights and sounds of a city founded by the Romans for well-being and relaxation. Take the opportunity to visit the Roman Baths, and enjoy a quintessentially British afternoon tea in a place rich and evocative with history.

This afternoon is flexible depending on your specific interests. Maybe take in the grand sweep of Royal Crescent and imagine yourself in high society. Perhaps a visit to the Victoria Arts Gallery, a tranquil and thought-provoking place beyond the colourful and bustling streets of Bath’s remarkable collection of museums, independent shops and delicious restaurants. Your guide will personalise the day to you, although we highly recommend climbing the clock tower for the fabulous views.

Day 10 - Wednesday 4th June - Oxford

Explore the university heart of ‘The City of Dreaming Spires’ with an expert city guide today. Wonder at the varied architecture, including the ‘Bridge of Sighs’, which have featured in many TV series and films too. Discover the varied secrets of the Bodleian Library and the Radcliffe Camera in streets which have seen so many generations of scholars.

At the end of the day, after dropping you safely back at your hotel, your guide will wave farewell and leave you to enjoy your capital exploration in the days to come.

Day 11 - Thursday 5th June - Transfer to London

This morning a private transfer will collect you from your hotel to take you to the vibrant city of London. On arrival you can drop your bags and head out to start exploring with an expert local city guide to get your first sights of the highlights. Explore Westminster Abbey, admire Big Ben and hopefully catch the Changing of the Guard outside Buckingham Palace.

Late afternoon your guide will leave you to enjoy fast-track tickets to the London Eye seeing the iconic skyline from a different perspective.  A fantastic way to end your evening in London.

Day 12 - Friday 6th June - The Tower of London & Tower Bridge

Continue your city explorations with a private guide today, starting with the fascinating history of the infamous Tower of London. Hear the tales of the turbulent Royal history of this ancient building and admire the opulent Crown Jewels, always watched by ravens who are known as the guardians of the Tower. Then explore the Victorian Engine rooms of Tower Bridge, and challenge yourselves to test out the glass floor!

This day is flexible and your guide will personalise your private walking tour to your interests as they take you along the banks of the Thames and explore as you go.

Day 13 - Saturday 7th June - Foodie tour & West End Show

This morning head into the streets of Soho and meet a local foodie expert for a private sumptuous tour indulging in delectable street food, delis, chocolate shops and chop houses, showcasing a variety of amazing cuisines. Savour the flavours and hear the stories about the culinary heritage of this renowned area.

Feeling stated and satisfied, enjoy a relaxed free afternoon. This evening head to the iconic West End and enjoy an incredible night of spectacular music and dance at one of London’s iconic theatre shows.  With an incredible show on every corner you will be spoilt for choice!

Day 14 - Sunday 8th June - Free Day

Today you have the whole day to explore at your own pace, so follow your curiosity and the tips from your guide as you take in the sights. Stroll along the Thames, visit one of the many Art Galleries or pick up those last minute souvenirs.

Day 15 - Monday 9th June - Depart

A private transfer will collect you from your accommodation and take you to the airport to make your onward connections. Waving farewell for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.
