Day by Day

Day 1 - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by your friendly guide (who will also act as your driver) and together you will head into the heart of the Cairngorm National Park.  En-route, stop to visit the splendours of the elegant Scone palace that was once the crowning place of Scottish Kings and Queens. Stroll the beautiful gardens and explore the unique Murray Star Maze.

Arriving at your cosy accommodation nestled in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park you can refresh and relax for the evening after your long journey.

Day 2 - Unique Foodie & Whisky Workshop

Set out into the whisky hills to a private remote kitchen this morning and spend a fascinating day in the home and kitchen of the charismatic writer, broadcaster and ‘food anthropologist’ Ghillie Basan. Set in an idyllic location you will discover a colourful and well stocked kitchen with inspiring views over the local hills. Ghillie will guide you in cooking a delicious feast while you share stories and learn about the dishes you are creating.

Day 3 - Hiking in the Cairngorms

Making your way further West today, enjoy a hike in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park en-route. At over 4500 sq km it is the largest National Park in the UK and with miles of winding rivers, make it Scotland’s most prolific whisky-making region. With your guide, choose a hike that suits you – perhaps explore the Caledonian pine forest which is the oldest forest in Scotland and the last of the woodland that once covered the whole of the UK or discover one of the areas many hidden Lochs. Whatever you choose, you are sure to enjoy your day in this ancient landscape. This evening, you are free to relax and settle in to your lovely hotel with incredible views over Loch Shiel, perhaps raise a dram to your Scottish adventure.

Day 4 - The Iconic Road to the Isles

After a relaxed breakfast, you’ll set off along the breathtaking Road to the Isles — often ranked among the most beautiful drives in the world. As you travel through this stunning landscape, you’ll be surrounded by towering mountain peaks and sweeping views over Loch Shiel. Along the way, your guide will share some of the rich history and stories tied to this remarkable region. Later, stretch your legs with a scenic hike in Arisaig, where white sandy beaches meet a rugged, wild coastline. This evening, return to your cosy accommodation and unwind before dinner.

Day 5 - Transfer to Loch Lomond via Glencoe

Today you journey to Loch Lomond, in the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.  Stop on route in the dramatic mountains and ridges of Glencoe that have featured as the backdrop in many films, and once you are looking up at these summits it is easy to see why!  Explore this famous valley with your guide, there are plenty of options to suit every level of energy and challenge. After your hike, continue to your luxurious loch side hotel where you will enjoy an evening cruise on Loch Lomond before settling in for the evening.

Day 6 - Transfer to St Andrews via Stirling Castle

The coast calls today as you set out for the iconic city of St Andrews. On your journey eastward, take time to explore the majestic Stirling Castle — once the childhood home of Mary, Queen of Scots. Steeped in history and perched high above the city, the castle offers breathtaking views over Stirling and beyond.

Your evening is free for you to either relax in your lovely hotel or head and start exploring this charming coastal town.  From the medieval architecture to the scenic coastline there is lots to explore.

Day 7 - Golf and Exploring St Andrews

This morning, Scott will tee off at one of the most breathtaking golf courses in the country. Ranked among the top 100 in the world, the course winds along 1.8 miles of stunning coastline, offering panoramic views and a rewarding challenge for golfers of all skill levels.

Meanwhile, Cynthia might choose a slower pace—relaxing at the hotel, taking in the serene surroundings, and perhaps enjoying a good book by the fire. Alternatively, she could join your guide for a visit into St Andrews, discovering the hidden corners of this historic town and soaking in its rich heritage.

The afternoon is left open for you to enjoy together. You might return to St Andrews as a pair and wander through the charming streets of this iconic university town—famous not only for its academic prestige, but also as the place where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge first met. Or, if you’re in the mood for a scenic drive with your guide, head slightly further along the coast to explore the traditional fishing villages of the East Neuk. These postcard-perfect spots, now beloved by artists and writers, are ideal for a relaxed wander—and sampling some traditional fish and chips here is an absolute must.

Day 8 - Welcome to Edinburgh

A private transfer will whisk you into the stunning city of Edinburgh today, on arrival you will have time to settle into your lovely accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to head out and explore the winding alleys and cobblestone streets. Full of history, the capital is very accessible by foot. Wander up the Royal Mile, visiting St Giles’ Cathedral (which has been a working church for over 900 years) or perhaps head to Princess Street and pick up some Scottish souvenirs – the choice is yours. This evening, enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants in the city.

Day 9 - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past. Your guide will leave you here so that you can spend as much time in the castle as you wish.

You then have a free afternoon to continue explorations at your own pace, pick up souvenirs or relax as you prefer.

Day 10 - Depart

A private transfer will collect you from your accommodation and take you to the airport to make your onward connections. Waving farewell for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.
