Day by Day

Day 1 - Sunday 7th April - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Monday 8th April - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past.

This afternoon meet a local kilt maker whose family has been in the trade for two generations.  Hear his story about what makes his kilts different and see the workshop before perhaps getting measured up for your very own Scottish masterpiece before spending the evening at a local cookery school to test your culinary skills while you create your very own private dinner.

Day 3 - Tuesday 9th April - Free Day

Enjoy a totally free day today to relax at your hotel and indulging in the spa facilites or heading out to explore some more or do some shopping.

Tonight, you will head to the underground vaults of the Old Town where your private guide will regale you with tales of death, disease, crime and corruption!  These haunted vaults all have their own dark pasts and links to witchcraft – will you be brave enough to step inside the stone circle??

Day 4 - Wednesday 10th April - Round of Golf at St Andrews & Afternoon Explorations

Today you explore the historic and world famous university town of St Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife. Recently remembered as the place in which the Prince and Princess of Wales met during their time studying here. However St Andrews is much better known for being the ‘birthplace of golf’ and today you may wish to play a round of golf, following in the footsteps of many golfing legends.

For the non golfers, your guide will take you around the town and along the famous beach before you all meet up later in the day for dinner before departing for Gleneagles in the late evening.

Day 5 - Thursday 11th April - Exploring Perthshire

You have options today!  You can either stay at Gleneagles and enjoy the activities that the hotel has to offer or you can head out to explore some of Perthshire with your guide.  Perhaps you might like to visit Perth and Scone Palace – where former Kings and Queens of Scotland were crowned.  Or maybe head to the pretty town of Pitlochry with its famous Salmon Ladder and boutique shops.

You’ll return to Gleneagles in the afternoon for some family time before dining out on some delectable treats in one of the many restaurants.

Day 6 - Friday 12th April - Indulge at Gleneagles

Today, you will stay local and indulge in all that Gleneagles has to offer. After breakfast, make your way through the hotel to the tranquility of the spa or take some time out for a little retail therapy in the beautiful arcade situated inside the hotel. If you are feeling adventurous, there are many experiences you can pre-book from tennis to falconry, archery or 4×4 off roading. Not forgetting the numerous dining options from casual lunch options to fine Scottish fare, you will be spoilt for choice. Today is your day to explore the wonders of a place that truly demonstrates the best Scotland has to offer.

Day 7 - Saturday 13th April - Depart Edinburgh

A private transfer will collect you from Gleneagles and take you to Edinburgh airport to make your onward connections. Waving farewell to Scotland for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.

 

Please note that due to your early flight the hotel will provide a bagged breakfast to take with you on departure.  Estimated collection time would be around 0330
