Day by Day

Day 1 - Thursday 23rd May - Welcome to Dublin

Arriving in Ireland today, a private transfer will pick you up from the airport and whisk you into the city to your boutique hotel in the city centre.

Head out later this morning to enjoy a private walking tour with a local private guide through this vibrant capital city, with its mix of 1,000 years of architecture from the mediaeval to Georgian to modern. See the Georgian style Merrion Square, lush St. Stephen’s Green and Fitzwilliam Square, as well as O’Connell Street, the site of the ‘1916 Uprising’ that led to Ireland’s independence in 1922. Your guide is also a historian who will bring the city to life with colourful tales of life in the city in times gone by.

Connect with the Lehmans later this afternoon and enjoy a dinner in Dublin. We have some great restaurant recommendations for you and are happy to make reservations.

Day 2 - Friday 24th May - Guided Day Exploring Dublin

Your private Wilderness Ireland guide will meet you this morning at your hotel and together you will spend the day exploring some of Dublin highlights and more off the beaten path experiences. The whole group is welcome to join you both or you may wish to spend this time with the guide on your own.
Starting off at The Little Museum of Dublin for a private guided tour with the owner and discover the story of Dublin in an elegant Georgian Townhouse before moving to a personal favourite Kilmainham Gaol. For over 100 years Kilmainham Gaol held thousands of men, women and children for crimes that ranged from minor offences to being involved in some of the most momentous events in Irish history. While most of the prisoners were common criminals, it also held political prisoners involved in Ireland’s struggle for independence. Included amongst those held here were Robert Emmet, Anne Devlin, the Fenians, Charles Stewart Parnell, Countess Markievicz and the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising, 14 of whom were executed by firing squad in the Stonebreaker’s yard.

Still TBC if the GAA Experience is going ahead late this afternoon or if there is more time to explore Dublin with your guide.

Day 3 - Saturday 25th May - Explore Glendalough Monastic Site

Stretching over 47 acres and encompassing formal gardens, sweeping terraces, secret hollows and rambling walks, the Powerscourt Gardens have been voted in the Top Ten World’s Top Gardens by National Geographic.

The Wicklow Way is a 131 km long distance trail that crosses the Wicklow Mountains and one of its historic highlights is located at Glendalough. The Monastic City of Glendalough, founded by St Kevin in the 6th century became an important learning centre for early Christian monks and was the site of many viking raids and attacks over the years. Today the site is recognised for its historic importance with the addition of an interactive centre helping visualise the city in its former glory.
