Day by Day

Day 1 - Monday 15th September - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at Edinburgh airport, you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your accommodation in Oban. Upon arrival, take some time to relax at your hotel or head out to start exploring this bustling seaside town.

Day 2 - Tuesday 16th September - Visiting the Isle of Iona

This morning, meet your expert guide – your key to the local land and driver who’ll be with you for the remainder of your journey. To make the most of the day, set off early, catching the ferry across to the Isle of Mull. Take some time to watch the mainland fade into the distance as sweeping seascapes unfold. On arrival on Mull, continue to the peaceful shores of Iona, a tiny island steeped in history and spiritual significance. Wander through the ancient abbey, breathe in the salty air, and feel the gentle stillness that makes this place so special. As the day draws to a close, retrace your steps across Mull and sail back to Oban, where the lights of the harbour welcome you back to the mainland.

Day 3 - Wednesday 17th September - Road to the Isles

This morning, your guide will meet you at your accommodation, ready to head north towards the Isle of Skye. Along the way, you may wish to pause at the historic Glenfinnan Viaduct – a location you might recognise from the Harry Potter films. Hear the stories behind the Glenfinnan Monument and keep an eye out for the Jacobite Steam Train as it puffs its way across the graceful stone arches.

Continuing your journey, follow the iconic Road to the Isles – often hailed as one of the most beautiful drives in the world, and with good reason. Gaze out over the silver sands of Arisaig and across the sea to Skye and the Small Isles shimmering on the horizon. Your guide will bring the landscape to life with tales from local history and legend, adding colour and depth to the dramatic scenery. After soaking up the views, board the ferry from Mallaig and set sail for the magical Isle of Skye.

Day 4 - Thursday 18th September - Exploring Rhona

This morning, take some time with your guide to explore the charming harbour village of Portree, its colourful buildings nestled around the bay. Then, step aboard a boat and set off into the surrounding seas, where dramatic coastlines and hidden coves await. Enjoy a delicious lunch featuring the freshest local seafood, before continuing on to the picturesque island of Rona. Keep watch as you travel – these tranquil waters are often rich with wildlife, from soaring sea eagles to curious seals. On Rona, enjoy time to explore at your own pace, soaking in the peace and wild beauty of this remote island. Later, return to Portree to savour your final evening in Scotland.

Day 5 - Friday 19th September - Guided Explorations on the Isle of Skye

Today you have a full day to explore some of the special corners of this magical island with your guide. You will be spoilt for choice with fascinating history and dramatic landscapes on offer, with unique hiking routes through stark and unusual rock formations and sweeping coast and mountain views to enjoy in almost every direction. This ‘misty isle’ is also home to so many curious stories and legends of fairies and islander culture, your guide will share some of the best-hidden gems and personalise the day to your interests.

If you feel like immersing yourself in history a explore of Dunvegan Castle is worth a visit. The seat of the Clan McLeod and the only Highland fortress continuously occupied by the same family for 800 years. Steeped in history, the castle boasts fascinating artefacts, each telling a story of the McLeod family’s rich heritage. Wander through the grand rooms, where centuries of tradition and culture are on display, and explore the beautifully maintained gardens that offer serene views over Loch Dunvegan.

Option 2: Please advise your agent which option you prefer at the time of booking

Today head out to explore the secretive Loch Coruisk with your guide. From the tiny fishing village of Elgol you take a boat trip to the heart of the Black Cuillin mountains which tower above the blue waters of the loch. Along the way you can spot seals and perhaps dolphins in the coastal waters. The boat will drop you at the remote southern end of the loch and you can drink in the atmosphere of this stupendous place as you hike around the loch. Today is sure to be a highlight of the trip with memories to cherish.

Day 6 - Saturday 20th September - Eilean Donan Castle

Returning to the mainland this morning, by way of the graceful Skye bridge, it is not long before you see one of the prettiest castles in Scotland. Eilean Donan occupies an island at the confluence of three sea lochs and stands in defiance of the towering peaks surrounding it. Take your time here to explore and enjoy the iconic view before continuing onwards through mountain glens. On arrival at Loch Ness set out onto the deep secretive waters and enjoy a scenic boat ride, keeping your eyes open for ‘Nessie’ herself. Then continue to a warm welcome at your accommodation, once here it is time to say goodbye to your guide. Take a moment to reflect fondly on the many memories you have made together during your time in Scotland.

Day 7 - Sunday 21st September - Depart
