Day by Day

Day 1 - Monday 11th August - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Tuesday 12th August - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past.  Head back to your hotel this afternoon to get ready for your incredible evening ahead.

The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a world-renowned outdoor performance that started in 1950. It is different every year and is staged on the castle esplanade with incredible views over the city. Your evening starts with a 3-course dinner and whisky tasting within The Scotch Whisky Experience, this includes a brief recital by members of the tattoo cast. After your meal, you will be escorted to your premier seats for the start of the performance. The show ends with a spectacular fireworks display and is sure to blow you away.

Day 3 - Wednesday 13th August - Céad míle fáilte

A private transfer will meet you at your hotel and take you to the airport in time for your flight to Ireland.

Arriving in Ireland today, a private transfer will pick you up from the airport and whisk you into the city to your 5-star hotel. Check-in is at 3 pm however feel free to leave your bags, freshen up, or have a bite to eat. Head out in the afternoon to enjoy a walking tour that takes a comprehensive dive into the inspiring figures and events that make up the History of Ireland’s LGBT+ community. From rebels and revolutionaries to civil rights agitators, pride March pioneers and gender identity trailblazers; you’ll enjoy an exploratory celebration of Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community and the rich history of their story. There is much to be celebrated, and much to be commemorated.

Day 4 - Thursday 14th August - Iconic Dublin

Explore some of Dublin’s most iconic sights today starting with a tour of Trinity College and Book of Kells. Your guided Trinity tour will take you around the campus, discovering some of the secrets and famous pupils who graced its halls and quads before making your way to the Old Library for an audio tour of the Book of Kells with its new immersive digital experience. Stop for a bite to eat in one of Dublin’s many delicious eateries before heading to the Abbey Theatre for a behind-the-scenes private tour.

Day 5 - Friday 15th August - The Wilds of Connemara

This morning, your private guide will meet you at arrivals and after some short introductions you will make your way west towards the wilds of Connemara. If you wish, take the time to walk along the banks of the River Shannon, a waterway that divides the East from the West and eventually empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Hear about the drowned goddess who gave the river its name, visit a monastic monument, and learn about Viking raids. This evening, check into Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, once owned by an Indian Raj, this traditional hunting lodge has seen presidents and dignitaries grace its halls and rooms for generations. Today, surrounded by thousands of acres of estate land and forests, Ballynahinch boasts fine dining, a traditional pub, on-site fly fishing and a remote escape in the wilds of Connemara.

Day 6 - Saturday 16th August - Wild Atlantic Way Mussel Farm Tour

Together with your guide, you will delve into the heart of Connemara today. Described by Oscar Wilde as a “savage beauty” as you travel, the landscape opens up to wild mountainscapes and heather-clad valleys. On the shores of Killary Fjord, you will visit a family-run shellfish farm where you will head out onto the fjord to lift a string of mussels for hauling and harvesting and understand the lifecycle of these delicious shellfish. Afterwards, you’ll join one of these farmers in their home for a fresh shellfish lunch and the opportunity to gain some insight into life on Ireland’s west coast.

Day 7 - Sunday 17th August - Galway City

This morning, you’ll make your way south to enter Co Clare, home to the UNESCO World Heritage site of The Burren. Before doing so, you’ll stop in Galway City for a delightful journey through Galway’s culinary scene. From artisanal cheeses, and craft beers, to handcrafted chocolate, this will be a true feast for the senses. Spend some time exploring the city before heading to Dromoland Castle, a property that dates back to the 16th century and your home for the next two nights. Before dinner, you will get up close and personal with mesmerising falcons, hawks and owls on the castle grounds.

Day 8 - Monday 18th August - A Taste of The Burren

This morning after a lovely breakfast to fuel you up, you will pay a visit to a charming, locally-owned Burren Beef farm for an immersive tour and tasting. As you enter the Burren landscape, you’ll quickly notice its otherworldly attributes. With endless lines of karst limestone rock dominating fields and covering hillsides, the area is said to have been an inspiration for JRR Tolkien’s world-famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. Learn a little about the traditional farming methods that help shape and conserve this unique landscape. Explore the original farmhouse and see how the Irish people used to live, survey the pre-famine settlement where inhabitants lived on rockier ground and visit an ancient ring fort designed for defensive purposes enabling the Chieftain to guard his sheep. Later you will head to the musical village of Doolin, where you’ll hop on a zodiac for an up close and personal exploration of the Cliffs of Moher. Far from the tourist crowds, learn the mythology and wildlife of this iconic site.

Day 9 - Tuesday 19th August - Killarney National Park

This morning you’ll head further south to County Kerry, and you’ll stop for a wander in Millstreet, full of fond childhood memories. Kerry is an expanse of rugged, mountainous country that sweeps down to the world-famous Lakes of Killarney. Here, stretching across 10,000 hectares, lies Killarney National Park, with its unforgettable combination of mountains, lakes, woodland and waterfalls. Take a tour of the famed Killarney Lakes with Dux, your Kerryman skipper who has been sailing these lakes since he was a child with his family. Alighting back on solid land, step back into the past with a visit to Muckross Traditional Farms, which showcases a very different Ireland – the Ireland of the 1930s and 1940s. Back then, a trip to the well was still a daily chore for the housewife and electricity had yet to be introduced to the countryside. Continuing south, on the edge of the Ring of Kerry, Sheen Falls Lodge awaits.

Day 10 - Wednesday 20th August - The Ring of Kerry

The Ring of Kerry is often used as a substitute name for the Iveragh Peninsula, but more properly it refers to the 175-kilometre road that encircles this vast, scenic leg of land on the southwest of the island. Your guide will lead you on explorations around the Peninsula today. Your first stop is the Skellig Six 18 Distillery where you’ll meet a local storyteller and discover the science and art of crafting Irish Whiskey, all while learning the history and mythology of this ancient land. After a delicious lunch in a nearby pub, you’ll take a spin out to the nearby Valentia Island, a step back in time. On the rugged and exposed elements of the southwest coast is Valentia Lighthouse, a beacon of safety to many a seaward traveller. There are even prehistoric fossilised footprints to discover.

Day 11 - Thursday 21st August - Relaxing at Sheen Falls Lodge

Spend the day enjoying your surroundings at Sheen Falls, partaking in some of the onsite leisure activities the hotel has to offer. This afternoon you’ll step back in time and experience the enchanting beauty of Kenmare in style with a tour aboard a meticulously restored 1936 vintage Buick. The rest of your day can be spent at leisure and we are happy to make any activity or spa bookings for you in advance.

Day 12 - Friday 22nd August - The Wilds of West Cork

This morning you’ll make your way into the Wilds of West Cork, one of the most remote regions in all of Ireland. Crafters, artists and artisan food producers have long since retreated to West Cork, creating a fascinating cultural mix in a magical setting. You visit Owenahincha Strand for a walk along the white, sandy shoreline. If you’d like, stop by the Michael Collins Centre Museum – Michael was a soldier, politician, statesman, and Irish Revolutionary. Most notably he helped to establish the Irish Free State. Continue to Cork City & your boutique luxury hotel, nestled within beautiful walled gardens.

Day 13 - Saturday 23rd August - The Titanic Trail

The nearby town of Cobh is cemented in history as the last port in which the ill-fated Titanic docked before embarking on its maiden journey to America. Formally called Queenstown, Cobh today has many attractions and not just for Titanic enthusiasts. Meeting an expert guide you will explore Cobh’s history with the Titanic away from the harbour and learn the stories of those from the area whose lives were forever changed.

Day 14 - Sunday 24th August - Foraging & Fort Tours in Kinsale

After breakfast, you’ll make your way to the bright coastal town of Kinsale. Historically a medieval fishing port, its spectacular waterfront setting and candy-coloured houses, shops and restaurants, make it a glorious blend of old and the new. Here you’ll meet a local marine biologist and forager who will lead you on a walk learning about wild seaweeds, shellfish and local plants. Discuss the ways in which these things can be used for food, beauty and health purposes before enjoying a gourmet picnic with some wild food along the coast. Your next stop is 17th century-star-shaped Charles Fort, which has survived some of the most momentous events in Irish history. Tonight, your guide will join you for a farewell dinner and a chat about your Irish adventure!

Day 15 - Monday 25th August - An Irish Goodbye

This morning, your guide will drop you back to where it all began, Ireland’s Fair City. Say farewell to each other but the fun is not yet over! Indulge your senses in the world of Guinness with a visit to the Guinness Storehouse, tracing its roots back to its founding by Arthur Guinness in 1759. You’ll sip a pint straight from the source at the renowned Gravity rooftop bar followed by a guided tour across the Dublin pub scene where you’ll discover hidden, off-the-beaten-path gems with a local. Finish up with some traditional Irish music (or keep going)!

Day 16 - Tuesday 26th August - Depart
