Duvine - Cycling Cotswolds 2026

Number of Travellers:  14
Duration: 6 Days / 5 Nights

Overview

Embark on a cycling journey into the timeless heart of England, where tradition, natural beauty, and a few delightful surprises await at every turn. The Cotswolds is a postcard-perfect slice of the countryside, with thatched cottages, wisteria-draped doorways, and cosy inns where tea arrives in delicate china teapots or a crisp glass of Pimm’s is served on a sunny terrace, how very British!

Picture honey-hued stone cottages and dry-stone walls meandering through soft, green hills. Villages like Bourton-on-the-Water and historic gems such as Sudeley Castle seem lifted straight from the pages of a Jane Austen novel, where time slows and every corner brims with quiet romance. Alongside its rustic charm, the Cotswolds offers outstanding fine dining without even needing to stray from our charming accommodations. Sip the wines of the region, relax into the gentle pace of countryside life, and savour every moment of these quintessentially English surroundings. And no journey to this corner of England would be complete without stepping into the world of Shakespeare himself, with a private visit to the Royal Shakespeare Company.

This is far more than a cycling vacation, it’s an opportunity to experience the true spirit of storybook England, in a setting as beautiful as it is timeless.

Day by Day

Day 1 - From Bath to The Cotswolds

Meet your guides in the elegant spa town and World Heritage Site of Bath, before making a short transfer into the heart of the Cotswolds, a vast stretch of southern England famed for its soft hills and storybook charm. Spanning nearly 800 square miles from Gloucestershire to Oxfordshire, the region was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1966, thanks to its rare limestone grasslands and ancient beech woodlands. After a welcome lunch, ease into your adventure with a gentle afternoon ride — a short loop through some of the honey-hued villages scattered across this timeless landscape. If time allows, there may be the chance to visit a local bowling club and try your hand at the wonderfully quaint and unmistakably British pastime of lawn bowls. If not, a cool glass of Pimm’s will be waiting for us as we arrive at the hotel to settle in and prepare for this evening’s welcome meal.

Day 2 - A taste of English Wine

Today’s countryside loop follows quiet roads completely surrounded by the green expanse that’s so unique to the Cotswolds. Our first stop is Brimscombe, and a lovely cafe situated on the banks of the River Frome. Then, ride north, covering miles of rolling countryside and passing the impressive Miserden Estate. Arrive at your lunch stop in Frampton Mansell, a farm shop and cafe where everything is made from scratch in their kitchens and brought over by basket once cooked. Our final stop is Tetbury, a hilly market town where we’ll pause to browse the town and the Highgrove shop, which retails sweet souvenirs and favorite products of His Majesty King Charles III. Pedal the final stretch back to our hotel and take the opportunity to stroll through the gorgeous grounds. Then, we’ll transfer to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard, where you can unwind with a few well-earned glasses of wine, paired with the region’s famous local cheese, charcuterie, and other delightful treats.

The Cotswolds is renowned for its charming towns and villages, all built from the iconic Cotswold limestone. We’ll make a stop in Cirencester before heading to a delightful local venue for a picnic with a difference. After refueling, we’ll hop back on our bikes and continue towards Bourton-on-the-Water, often called the “Venice of the Cotswolds” for its picturesque bridges crossing the gently flowing River Windrush. Take some time to explore this idyllic town and perhaps enjoy a pint of local ale in one of its traditional pubs. From there, it’s a short ride to Upper and Lower Slaughter, considered the epitome of a quintessential Cotswold village. Upon arrival at our hotel, you’ll have time to check in and unwind with a refreshing drink on the lawn before dinner.

Immerse yourself in this incredible legacy by visiting the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), founded in 1961. Based in Stratford-upon-Avon, the RSC is one of the world’s leading theatre companies. Here, you can take a private tour to not only learn about the history and significance of Shakespeare’s work but also witness firsthand the lasting impact he continues to have on society. Enjoy a delightful lunch in this spectacular setting before continuing the final stretch of the route to the picture-perfect village of Broadway, where the ride concludes. A little time here, exploring this fascinating and idyllic town before an evening of something a little different. Get your ribbons and bells ready for a Morris dancing experience like no other. This traditional English folk dance, with its rhythmic steps, clapping, and use of sticks, handkerchiefs, or bells, dates back to the 15th century. Performed to lively music, it’s a vibrant part of celebrations and festivals, known for its energetic movements, colorful costumes, and the strong sense of community it fosters. Having already created unforgettable memories, tonight’s farewell dinner promises to be equally remarkable.
