Scone Palace, the historic crowning site of Scottish kings, saw the coronations of figures like Macbeth, Robert the Bruce, and Charles II. Once home to the Stone of Destiny, the palace is rich with history. Take a walk where Charles II strode to his coronation and explore rooms where figures like Mary Queen of Scots and Marie Antoinette once left their mark. The palace is also known for its fine furniture, paintings, and artifacts. Outside there are beautiful gardens and woodlands, all under the watchful eye of the resident peacocks. From here we’ll meander through rural Perthshire farmland, the most traffic we’ll see this morning is from tractors, fellow cyclists, or highland cattle. Learn the meaningful origins of the names for local sites and fauna from our local guides. Arrive in the picturesque riverside village of Dunkeld, with time to explore the pretty shops, selling homewares and local Scottish crafts. There is also the opportunity to admire the cathedral after we have a bite to eat. After a short ride to the hotel, we’ll be greeted with a heartwarming and traditional welcome.  Unwind to the sounds of the Scottish piper as you relax in the bar or enjoy a drink outdoors, the perfect aperitif before dinner.

After exploring the surrounding grounds and chapel, the route begins a steady ascent into some of the area’s most iconic climbs. As we veer toward the glistening Loch Tummel, Schiehallion mountain towers on the skyline. Its name, derived from the Gaelic Sìth Chailleann, translates to “Fairy Hill of the Caledonians.” With sweeping views in every direction, we descend to ride along the undulating shores of Loch Tummel, making our way toward Queen’s View, one of Highland Perthshire’s most famous landmarks.
