Meet your Wilderness Scotland guide in Inverness this morning and transfer to the North West Highlands. To introduce us to this amazing region and the lifestyle of the local people, we visit a tiny crofting community, before heading out for a hike. There are many great options to choose from – your guide will suggest the best route depending on how much you feel like taking on todat. This could include a circuit of the shapely peak of Stac Pollaidh; or exploring the coastline and sandy beaches of Gairloch. Later today, check into your luxury hotel overlooking the shores of Loch Torridon.

After a relaxed breakfast, we jump aboard a traditional working fishing boat to see langoustine creels and lobster pots hauled from the sea and hear about the area’s history from a locally born skipper. We’re back on shore for a picnic lunch, and then we follow up with an afternoon hike to the Fairy Lochs, which has excellent views of both the coastline and mountains. An option for this afternoon is to visit the award winning Inverewe Gardens, a botanical garden created from barren land in 1862 by Osgood Mackenzie on the 850-hectare estate bought for him by his mother. Return to Torridon Hotel for another relaxing evening.

Depart Torridon this morning and transfer to the iconic Isle of Skye. After arriving, make your way to the shores of Loch Greshornish to visit a local croft. You’ll get the chance to meet their animals, as well as gain insight into the daily routines of crofting and the life of their sheep and how they produce ethical wool. Following that, join the host in her workshop and listen to a brief history of fleece preparation, hand spinning, the reasons and history behind their uniquely hand knitted designs. This offers a unique opportunity to understand about Croft sustainability on the Isle of Skye. A short transfer will take you to Portree, your harbour side home for the next 3 nights.

Feeling rested, head south with your guide, arriving in Elgol – a tiny hamlet scattered along the western cliffs of the Strathaird peninsula. From a small jetty, board the charming Bella Jane and sail over Loch Scavaig into the very heart of the Black Cuillin. As the lovely first mate provides some fascinating history about the surrounding islands, look for sleepy seals lounging on the warm rocks. Upon reaching the shore, leave the boat to explore Loch Coruisk, also known as the Cauldron of the Waters, a deep dark loch that stretches like a shadow below the impressive volcanic peaks. Choose to walk around the loch or climb the rugged mountain of Sgurr na Stri – which is considered by many to offer one of the wildest and most spectacular views in Scotland.
