Head out in the afternoon to explore this vibrant capital city, with its mix of 1,000 years of architecture from the mediaeval to Georgian to the modern. Walk around the lush St. Stephen’s Green or take a tour of the GPO located on O’Connell Street, the site of the ‘1916 Uprising’ that led to Ireland’s independence in 1922.

Day 2 - Thursday 11th July - Cooley Peninsula

Meeting  your guide in Dublin this morning your first port of call on your journey northwards is the mediaeval town of Carlingford. Here you will enjoy your first Irish hike in the hills of the Cooley  Peninsula- this area is a protected leprechaun habitat so keep an eye out for these mischievous little guys as you walk. Steeped in Irish mythology, you’ll hear tales of warrior queens and cattle raids before heading on to the small seaside town of Newcastle.

Day 3 - Friday 12th July - Biking & Hiking in The Mournes

The best off-road biking in Ireland is a stone’s throw from your accommodation. Today you’ll have options from gentle traffic-free routes through the lower level woodlands and valleys, to more technical trails that promise incredible ocean views and a challenge to suit all levels. Later you can head of the hills, where we’ll match the perfect hike to suit your fitness level, from gentle lakeside walks to challenging summits to explore a region that inspired CS Lewis’ Narnia. Explore the mysterious 22-mile-long Mourne Wall, once built to enclose a reservoir from livestock, and now a vestige of another era.

Day 4 - Saturday 13th July - The Giant's Causeway Coast

Follow a stunning coastal route – the ‘secret’ way to visit the Giant’s Causeway – with recommended places to stop along the Causeway Coast. Along the way visit ancient castle ruins, stunning beaches and picturesque harbours and enjoy an adrenaline-filled cliff walk- across bridges, past caves and through a tunnel, along The Gobbins cliffs. The cliffs are recognised for their rich birdlife, important geology and notable species. Finish your day at the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage site the Giant’s Causeway – octagonal columns of rocks created by feuding giants or volcanic activity – myth or science, you decide!

Day 5 - Sunday 14th July - Hiking on Rathlin Island

Many tales of myth and mystery surround Rathlin Island, though the most famous tells of Robert the Bruce. In 1306, the Scottish King was driven from Scotland by Edward I of England and took refuge on Rathlin where he watched a spider persevering again and again to bridge a gap with its web. Eventually it succeeded. Taking heart from the spider’s efforts, he returned to Scotland and eventually regained his crown. You’ll boat out to the island and explore by foot today, visiting the bird sanctuary and discovering the lighthouses on the island’s east and west coasts.
