Day by Day

Day 1 - Tuesday 13th August - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre where your host guide will meet you.  Once you have freshened up you can set off to start exploring the city.

This evening you’ll head out on a ghostly tour of the Old Town with your private guide.  Tales of blood, guts and gore will surround you as you explore Edinburgh’s mos haunted underground vaults – a fantastic way to start your time in this ancient city.

Day 2 - Wednesday 14th August - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past.

After enjoying some lunch, you will head to a local kilt maker this afternoon to find out more about Scotland’s national dress and how the unique item of clothing is becoming a fashion favourite.  You’ll end the day with a private tour of Mary Kings Close where the truth about the darkest time in Edinburgh’s history will be unveiled – are you brave enough to step inside?

Day 3 - Thursday 15th August - Fringe Explorations

The streets of Edinburgh will be buzzing with energy due to the various festivals running this month and you will pass street performers and entertainment on every corner as you explore. Follow your curiosity through the twisting cobbled streets of the Old Town and enjoy the vibrant ambience. There will be a huge variety of different shows and concerts to choose from if you wish to catch a performance, maybe even the famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo itself on the Castle Esplanade.

Day 4 - Friday 16th August - Journey to the Valley of Glencoe

Your main driver guide will meet you at your hotel this morning and you will set off for the west coast. Your first stop will be Bannockburn, the site of one of Scotland’s most famous battles where you will meet a local storyteller who will bring this landscape to life with tales of victory and the change to history.

Before arriving at your castle hotel, you will stop off at the Glencoe Folk Musuem where you will hear tales of Corrag, the Witch of Glencoe and how she foresaw the Massacre of Glencoe.

Day 5 - Saturday 17th August - The Jacobite Steam Train

All aboard the Hogwarts Express this afternoon and you don your wizarding robes and head off on a magical adventure.  Step back in time as the train puffs out of the station and the glorious scenery passes by.  Keep an eye out for any flying cars or signs of magic as you charge across the famous viaduct towards the sea.  You’ll enjoy lunch in Mallaig before heading back to Fort William on the train – a great way to spend the day.

Day 6 - Sunday 18th August - Depart

Your guide take you to the airport to make your onward connections. Waving farewell for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.
