Join us on an adventure through the beautiful wilds of Scotland. From the twinkling lights of Edinburgh to the untamed landscape of the Highlands, it’s a journey to the heart of a country rich with history, tradition, and a deep love of its ancient lands.
From morning walks where the rocky faces of the mountains glow pink with the first rays of sunshine to enjoying a warming dram in a local pub, there is so much to discover. Set your days hiking to the soundtrack of bird song and the evenings to traditional folk music with nights in hand-picked boutique accommodations famed for their Highland hospitality.
After breakfast, your guide will meet you at your hotel in the city this morning and together you head west out of the city to the infamous and hauntingly beautiful Glencoe. On the way, stop at Doune Castle, a mediaeval stronghold which has since been used as a location of film and TV. Stretch your legs as you explore the impressive castle and grounds. Your guide will discuss some options for today’s hike could be the ‘Lost Valley’, is so named because it’s a secluded and hidden valley (glen in Scottish terminology), nestled amidst the surrounding mountains. It is one of Glencoe’s most renowned short hikes and rightly so. The brisk and steep climb, coupled with crossing streams, proves to be a rewarding effort, drawing you deeper into the encompassing mountainous terrain. The vistas within the valley exude an atmospheric charm, even on damp and misty days. After a brief visit to the area’s National Trust visitor centre you will then be taken to your beautiful old mansion house accommodation for the next two nights where you can settle into your beautiful surroundings.

Over hot coffee and tea, chat with your guide about some walking options for today. The spectacular Glencoe, carved out centuries ago by glaciers and volcanic eruptions, offers some wild and scenic hiking. You may wish to summit the iconic Pap of Glencoe, or perhaps one of the many low level options there are. As ethereal mists blow over rugged peaks, keep an eye out for the soaring shape of a golden eagle or the silhouette of a stag, learning about the landscape’s captivating and haunting history. This evening, enjoy a well-earned dram, perhaps stepping outside after dinner to look up at a night sky full of the sharpest stars.

After breakfast, you will wind your way to the east and lovely Perthshire and to the start of our hike. Today we will climb the iconic hill of Schiehallion – the Fairy Hill of Caledonia. An excellent trail snakes up the whaleback mountain to its lofty summit at 1,083m, which rewards us with expansive views across the Highlands. You may like to visit the popular town of Pitlochry to explore some of the charming shops or perhaps enjoy a pint of Schiehallion ale or perhaps a local whisky to celebrate! A short drive from here will take us to the setting for the next 2 nights in Highland Perthshire at the luxurious Old Manse of Blair.

We will stop around the beautiful village of Dunkeld and take one of the beautiful short hikes that will give you an idea of the beauty of this area as you take in wooded follies, ancient oaks and rushing waters of the River Tay. Don’t leave the village without walking amongst the ruins of Dunkeld Catherdral said to be the most romantic Scotland. Your guide will ensure your last day is well spent before returning you to the capital for late afternoon.
