Day by Day

Day 1 - Saturday 27th April - Welcome To Scotland!

On arrival at Edinburgh Airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. This afternoon head out to start exploring this unique city as you adventure down underneath Edinburgh on a private underground tour of a warren of tiny fascinating streets dating from the 17th century.

Day 2 - Sunday 28th April - Exploring Historic Edinburgh

Spend this morning exploring the unique city of Edinburgh with an expert local guide who will take you on a walking tour to visit some of the famous historic attractions. Wonder at the stories of the streets and discover the true character of the Old Town. Edinburgh is a labyrinth of cobbled alleyways contrasted with Georgian townhouses and more modern architecture and your private guide will give you a real personal insight into the history and character of this amazing city.

This afternoon take a delicious tour of the Chocolatarium and immerse yourselves in the world of chocolate. Learn about the origins of the sweet treat and make up a special bar to your own tastes.

Day 3 - Monday 29th April - Meet Your Private Guide & Discover The World of Outlander

This morning your Private Guide (who will also act as your driver) will meet you at your hotel and together you will head north into the Kingdom of Fife. Step back in time as you discover several fascinating locations used in the filming of the ‘Outlander’ series. Starting with a uniquely shaped 15th century castle used as the setting for “Black Jack” Randall’s Fort William headquarters in the series. Enjoy walking the picturesque cobbled streets of the Royal Burgh of Culross, a once-bustling port with wonderful views out over the firth. 

This afternoon enjoy exploring Falkland Palace, a Royal pleasure palace beloved by Mary Queen Of Scots with fabulous tapestries and artworks that are hundreds of years old. See the oldest surviving real Tennis Court, walk in the beautiful grounds and explore the basement Apothecary, used in season 2. Your guide will then take you to settle into your characterful accommodation.

Day 4 - Tuesday 30th April - St Andrews - Golf, History & Adrenaline

This morning you Tee off on a fabulous links course on the same coastline as ‘the birthplace of golf’. Enjoy the history and coastal views of a superb round of golf and chat to the local players. After lunch explore St Andrews with your guide, soaking in the history of the beautiful cathedral and hearing about the academic history of this city.

If the weather and tides are in your favour then enjoy a change of pace as you head to West Sands, these uninterrupted miles of beach featured in the opening scenes of Chariots Of Fire. Here you will step into chariots of a slightly different kind, land yachts! Enjoy the adrenaline thrills of racing along the sands with some expert tuition to help you along.

Day 5 - Wednesday 1st May - North To The Cairngorm National Park & Special Distillery Visit

Today you transfer North into the beautiful Cairngorms National Park. Stop and visit the inspiring V&A Dundee on route, showcasing fresh Scottish design and its long heritage. If there is time then maybe take a scenic stroll to an intriguing folly over a thundering waterfall. Enjoy a proper welcome to the Highlands with a private tour of a charming small distillery which is normally closed to the public, finishing with a tasting of some of their delicious drams. Your guide will then take you to your welcoming guesthouse accommodation.

Day 6 - Thursday 2nd May - Private Woodcarving Workshop & Afternoon Explorations

This morning meet a local craftsman and learn how he creates his beautiful unique carved pieces out of local Scottish green wood. See his unique workspace and you can then have a shot at creating a special wee souvenir yourself. This afternoon your guide will share some of their favourite local spots with you on a hike in this wonderful landscape, making it come alive with stories as you go. The hike can be as relaxed or as challenging as you wish, and your guide will discuss the options with you. Or, if you prefer, you could choose to visit Culloden Battlefield where the Jacobite rebellion met its end. Maybe raise a glass to your adventures tonight and toast the times you have enjoyed together.

Day 7 - Friday 3rd May - Depart

This morning your guide will take you to Inverness Airport to make your onward connections to the Emerald Isle and Irish adventures. Waving farewell for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.
