Day by Day

Day 1 - Welcome to Scotland, transfer to Skye

As you arrive in the picturesque Scottish Highlands, you can’t help but notice the crisp air and breathtaking landscapes.  You will be met by your guide/driver for your stay and together you will make your way to the iconic Isle of Skye.  The journey will take you through winding roads and rugged terrain with panoramic views of lochs and mountains.  As you arrive on this incredible island, keep your eyes out for the local wildlife, including Seals and even Golden Eagles.   Spend your evening relaxing at your lovely hotel, perhaps enjoying a warming dram.

Day 2 - Exploring Skye

Today you have a full day to explore some of the special corners of this magical island with your guide. You will be spoilt for choice with fascinating history and dramatic landscapes on offer, with unique hiking routes through stark and unusual rock formations and sweeping coast and mountain views to enjoy in almost every direction. This ‘misty isle’ is also home to so many curious stories and legends of fairies and islander culture, your guide will share some of the best hidden gems and personalise the day to your interests.

Day 3 - Waternish Peninsula

Engage in a hands on experience, learning about the intricate process that transforms sheepskins into luxuriously soft and durable products.  Perhaps enjoy a warming cup of coffee in a traditional Yurt coffee shop, with fantastic views over the Peninsula.   Spend the afternoon at a local working farm where you will witness how the locals are continuing traditional agricultural practices while conserving the pristine environment around them.  You will head back to your hotel today with a real feeling of having met new friends!

Day 4 - Farewell Skye, transfer to Loch Lochy

Passing over the graceful arc of the Skye Bridge, you bid farewell to ‘the misty isle’, continuing your journey to the Nevis range.  Enjoy some fabulous scenery on the way, passing through glens and rugged mountains.  Make sure to stop at one of Scotland’s most photographed castles, Eilean Donan.  Set out on the water on a private island, surrounded by spectacular scenery it is one not to miss.  Perhaps stop en-route to stretch your legs on a short walk or even enjoy some highland chocolates at a local chocolate shop.  If you still have energy when you arrive at your next hotel, why not take a gondola ride on the Nevis range.  Built on the north face of Aonach Mòr the journey provides a scenic ride with stunning views.  Or you can choose to relax at your beautiful loch side accommodation.

Day 5 - Transfer to Edinburgh & hidden Edinburgh

Today you will transition from the tranquil Highlands to the vibrant capital city of Edinburgh. Perhaps discover the epitome of Scottish Luxury shopping at The House of Bruar.  Nestled amidst the stunning scenery of Perthshire, it offers a sophisticated blend of high-quality tweeds, gourmet delights and artisanal products. Late afternoon you will discover a hidden side of Edinburgh as you adventure down underneath Edinburgh on an underground tour of a warren of tiny fascinating streets dating from the 17th century.

Day 6 - Royal Yacht & Holyrood Palace or St Andrews

You can choose your preferred activity today, perhaps stay in Edinburgh and visit the Royal Yacht Britannia to explore the late Queen’s former floating palace. Decommissioned in 1997 the Royal Yacht is now berthed in the waters of Leith. Experience an audio tour of the ship to discover at your own pace. Visit the Palace of Holyrood, discovering splendid chambers, historic artifacts and hear captivating stories of Scottish Monarchy.  Or spend your day walking around the historic university town of St Andrews. More recently the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge famously met during their studies here but St Andrews is much better known for being the home of golf. On your way back to Edinburgh you can take an alternative route discovering the traditional fishing villages of the East Neuk area, now popular with artists and writers. Sampling traditional fish and chips here is a must!

Day 7 - Edinburgh Explorations

After breakfast, meet your guide in the foyer of your hotel and head out for a day spent exploring the beautiful cobblestone streets of the city. Full of history, wander up the Royal Mile, stopping to visit the architecturally stunning St Giles Cathedral, and enjoy panoramic views from Edinburgh Castle. Pick up a coffee and a pastry from one of the wee artisan shops, dipping into local galleries, cheesemongers and bookshops.

Day 8 - Depart Edinburgh - Farewell Scotland

A private transfer will collect you from your accommodation and take you to Edinburgh Airport to make your onward connections. Waving farewell for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.
