Day 6 - Wednesday 23rd July - Culloden Battlefield, Standing Stones & Moray
This morning visit the atmospheric Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last battle of the Jacobite rising in 1746. Here you will take a private tour of the battlefield and the visitor centre before heading to the site of three Bronze Age burial chambers and standing stones known as Clava Cairns (said to be the inspiration behind the standing stone in the Outlander tales). This site is exceptionally well preserved and a great example of prehistoric history in Scotland dating back over 4,000 years.
This afternoon immerse yourselves in your family history as you explore the Moray countryside with your guide. Discover the fascinating wool mill in Elgin, which has been part of the local community fabric since 1846. You may also have a special spot to visit which your genealogist has identified as important to your ancestors.
Finish the day with a tour and dram at one of the local distilleries. Raise your glass to toast ‘Slainte Mhath’, the perfect finish to your adventures. At the end of the day your guide will take you back to your hotel and depart, leaving you to enjoy a final relaxing evening by yourselves.
