Arriving in Ireland this morning, your guide will meet you at the airport and together you will begin your journey west to County Clare and your boutique accommodation, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Clare coast. Doolin is just as charming and quaint as you’d imagine! You’ll find yourself immersed in the lively atmosphere of the village, where colourful storefronts, quaint pubs, and cheerful locals create that well known Irish atmosphere. Enjoy a romantic dinner at your accommodation tonight and perhaps catch a few trad tunes in O Connor’s, just a short walk from your inn.

Day 2 - Wednesday 18th September - Inis Mór
It’s hard to resist the allure of one of the many islands that dot the Irish coastline and today you will take to the water and ferry to The Aran Islands. The history of these islands goes back millennia and today Gaelic is still the daily spoken language of the inhabitants. The Aran islands seem to defy their size by all they have to offer: breathtaking scenery, medieval castles, cliffs and prehistoric forts are all to be found on this little group of islands. Inis Mór, the largest of the three islands, is your destination today. The sheltered side of the island has many little beaches and coves, a resident colony of seals and the tiny village of Kilronan. The wilder side has huge limestone cliffs facing the open Atlantic, an ancient fort crumbling over the cliff edge and scores of ancient relics from the Christian and pre-christian era. Don’t forget your bathing suit!

Today’s hike follows a coastal route along the cliffs, passing through dramatic hinterland with inspiring views offshore to the Aran Islands. The area is teeming with wildlife and 20 different species of birds, including puffins, make this area their home. You’ll finish in the village of Doolin, famous for its traditional music scene. You will stop for a fish n’ chips lunch in a historic stone cottage before taking a scenic drive via Black Head, a mesmerising stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way. There will be plenty of opportunities to stop for photos en route. Later you will head into the village of Ballyvaughan for a private Irish whiskey tasting. There’s a great little pub on the pier nearby that we’d suggest for dinner.

After breakfast, you will transfer one hour to Galway, a charming Medieval-era city with a thriving arts scene. Known as the ‘town of the tribes’ the small centre of cobblestone streets and colourful store fronts is vibrant, fun and cosmopolitan. What better way to spend an afternoon here than a delectable food tour? Stop off in the city and tantalise your taste buds with a delightful journey through Galway’s culinary scene. From artisanal cheeses, craft beers, to handcrafted chocolate, this will be a true feast for the senses. Afterwards, you’ll make your way to Ballynahinch Castle, one of Ireland’s finest luxury castle hotels located along the Wild Atlantic Way. Tonight we recommend dinner at the historic Fisherman’s Pub, a lively place where guests and local mingle.

Enjoy a leisurely hike around the island – highlights include rugged cliffs, blowholes, Bronze and Iron Age ruins and the crumbling Cromwellian fort where ‘Don Bosco’, the infamous Spanish pirate was stationed in the 16th century. Amidst the breathtaking scenery of cliffs and wildflower-covered fields, discover secluded coves perfect for a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll have a picnic lunch before heading back to Ballynahinch Castle for some down time. This evening you’ll head into the town of Clifden for dinner and traditional Irish music.

After a pit stop at a local café for lunch, you will transfer back to Ballynahinch Castle. You will have some free time to enjoy the estate this afternoon – go fly fishing, walk around the gardens, or simply kick back with a book by the river.
