Day by Day

Day 1 - Sunday 4th August - Welcome to Dublin

Arriving in Ireland today, a private transfer will pick you up from the airport and whisk you into your 5 star hotel in the city centre. Check-in is at 3pm however feel free to leave your bags, freshen up, or have a bite to eat. Head out in the afternoon to enjoy a walking tour with a local private guide through this vibrant capital city, with its mix of 1,000 years of architecture from the mediaeval to the Georgian to the modern. See the Georgian style Merrion Square, lush St. Stephen’s Green and Fitzwilliam Square, as well as O’Connell Street, the site of the ‘1916 Uprising’ that led to Ireland’s independence in 1922. Your guide is also a historian who will bring the city to life with colourful tales of life in the city in times gone by.

Day 2 - Monday 5th August - Rock of Cashel & Cork

Your private guide will meet you in your hotel lobby this morning, and after introductions you will begin your journey into the countryside travelling through Ireland’s hidden heartlands. Dive right into wonder of ancient Ireland with a stop at the Rock of Cashel, an immaculately preserved cathedral overlooking the sweeping landscape below. After lunch it’s only an hour drive to your boutique luxury hotel, nestled within beautiful walled gardens. This evening your guide will join you for a welcome dinner and the chance to discuss the week to come.

Day 3 - Tuesday 6th August - Kinsale Foraging & Picnic

After breakfast, you’ll make your way to the bright coastal town of Kinsale. Historically a medieval fishing port, its spectacular waterfront setting and candy-coloured houses, shops and restaurants, make it a glorious blend of old and the new. Here you’ll meet an expert forager at the coastal enclave of Sandycove where they will have a sumptuous picnic waiting for you! Relax, take in the views and breathe in the clean, salty air. Later, they will take you on a wee excursion to forage and learn about wild seaweeds, shellfish and plants. Feast on local and wild foods in your delectable picnic. Tonight, we recommend a stroll around Cork city and dinner in one of its many award winning restaurants.

Day 4 - Wednesday 7th August - Buffalo Farm Tour & Tasting

Checking out of your hotel this morning, say goodbye to Cork as you make your way further north to Killarney in the “Kingdom of Kerry”. En route, you will visit a local working buffalo farm for an immersive tour and cheese tasting. Meet the herd, chat about all things agriculture with John and finish with a spectacular tasting session of some fine, authentic Irish cheese, made right there on the farm. Later check into your lovely manor hotel, beautifully situated on a private estate on the edge of Killarney National Park. This afternoon is free for you to relax and enjoy.

Day 5 - Thursday 8th August - Killarney National Park & Boat Tour

After breakfast, make you way over to Killarney National Park – the jewel in the county’s crown and the largest of Ireland’s National Parks. Today the park encompasses 26,000 acres of mountains, woodlands, lakes, waterfalls and history. Historic manor houses and abbeys make for an interesting visit but Killarney is best explored via the water with a private boat trip across the lake. After your invigorating boat tour, your guide will lead you through the grounds and gardens of Muckross House, a 19th century mansion set upon the shores of the glistening lake. Time and energy levels allowing, it’s only a short walk up to the base of the serpentine Torc Waterfall winding its way from the mountainside and into the lush canopy of trees. This evening, take a walk around the colourful Killarney town, known for its bustling atmosphere and traditional Irish pubs. Finish the day listening to some tunes by an open fire.

Day 6 - Friday 9th August - Adare and The Cliffs of Moher

Leaving the Kingdom of Kerry behind this morning, make your way into the neighbouring counties of Limerick and Clare. Your first stop this morning is into the buzzing village of Adare, where you can stretch your legs with a wander between its traditional thatched-roof cottages, local art galleries, and warming cafes. Further up on your drive north, the real treat for the day is to see the famous Cliffs of Moher up close. Dropping some 700 feet below to the sea, the Cliffs are set among a jaw-dropping landscape with the cobalt waters swirling below and rolling green sheep-laden fields toward the land. Retire for the evening in Galway city, the unofficial capital of Ireland’s west coast with a rich history and strong culture which we will explore more tomorrow.

Day 7 - Saturday 10th August - Galway Food Tour

Known as the ‘town of the tribes’ the small centre of cobblestone streets and colourful store fronts is vibrant, fun and cosmopolitan. What better way to spend an afternoon here than a delectable food tour? Stop off in the city and tantalise your taste buds with a delightful journey through Galway’s culinary scene. From artisanal cheeses, craft beers, to handcrafted chocolate, this will be a true feast for the senses. To top off the day and to celebrate your final night in Ireland, we have organised an intimate performance of Irish dance in one of the oldest pubs in Galway. Soak up the wonderful atmosphere, music and dance unique to this island while enjoying a glass of uisce beatha. Your guide will join you for a farewell dinner this evening.

Day 8 - Sunday 11th August - Heading Home
