Day by Day

Day 1 - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past. Your guide will leave you here so that you can spend as much time in the castle as you wish.

You then have a free afternoon to continue explorations at your own pace, pick up souvenirs or relax as you prefer.

Day 3 - Day Trip to St Andrews

Head out of the city today to the hallowed greens and iconic landmarks of St Andrews with your local driver.

Enjoy a private walking tour of the town with your guide including visits to the Cathedral and the University and perhaps take a walk near the Old Course and watch the golfers in action!

On the way back to Edinburgh you could stop off at Anstruther, a pretty seaside village that has previously been voted to have the best fish and chips in the UK!

Day 4 - To the Highlands

Your main driver guide will collect you from your hotel this morning and you’ll set off on your Highland Adventure.  Your first stop will be at the Wallace Monument where you can discover more about William Wallace – one of the main leaders of the First War of Independence.  Looking down at the fields where he led his troops to victory, imagine what it was like for the soliders that day and how the course of Scottish history changed because of this event.

Later on, continue through the first National Park in the UK through the jagged peaks of Glencoe and past the UK highest mountain to your boutique accommodation on the shores of Loch Ness

Day 5 - Legends of Loch Ness

Spend the morning exploring the loch from the water, chasing the water bubbles or the swish of the tail as you search for the elusive monster and hear tales of the myths and legends that are woven into the fabric of life here.

In the afternoon, you have a choice of enjoying a walk in the hills above the loch or exploring the most besieged castle in the UK.  From the battles that raged up and down the Glen to it’s final stance during the Jacobite uprising, this castle has stories to tell and it’s ruins are a testament to how it was blown up to stop any more battles.

Day 6 - The Misty Isle

Leaving the main land behind today as you head to the Misty Isle. home to the fairies and some of the most stunning scenery in all of Scotland.  Cross the graceful arc of the Skye Bridge to the island and take your time heading north to the pretty town of Portree which will be your base for the next two night.

On the way there are lots of places to visit such as Eilean Donan Castle – the most photographed castle in the whole of Scotland or take a detour to the famous Talisker distillery for a tour and tasting of the golden nectar before settling into your hotel for the night,

Day 7 - Guided Explorations on the Isle of Skye

Today you have a full day to explore some of the special corners of this magical island with your guide. You will be spoilt for choice with fascinating history and dramatic landscape on offer, with unique hiking routes through stark and unusual rock formations and sweeping coast and mountain views to enjoy in almost every direction. This ‘misty isle’ is also home to so many curious stories and legends of fairies and islander culture, your guide will share some of the best hidden gems and personalise the day to your interests.

Day 8 - Return to the mainland

For your final morning on Skye you can spend some time meandering around the pretty town of Portree, perhaps picking up some souveniers for family or enjoying one last cuppa, drinking in the stunning view.

Back on the mainland you will be dropped off at your city centre hotel where your guide will say goodbye.  Tonight, you can head into the city to enjoy dinner and perhaps some live music – the best way to end your trip.

Day 9 - Depart

A private transfer will take you to Inverness airport for your connecting flight, taking with you some memories of a lifetime and a longing to return.
