Day by Day

Day 1 - Friday 25th April - Arrive in Yorkshire

On arrival at Manchester airport you will be met by a private transfer who will whisk you to your central hotel, The Hilton York. As you have booked a pre-night at the hotel you will be able to access your room as soon an you arrive at the hotel. You will also be able to enjoy breakfast on arrival.

Later, make your way over to Clifford’s Tower where you will embark on an out of hours private tour of this historic landmark with a poignant connection to the Jewish community.

Clifford’s Tower is just across the road from the Hilton York so make your way over to the base of the steps to Cliffords’s Tower to meet your guide, Helen.

The tour starts at 6.15pm and lasts for one hour.

After the tour please make your own way back to your hotel.

Day 2 - Saturday 26th April - Half Day Walking Tour of York

This morning, your local expert guide will meet you at your hotel and lead you on a fascinating half day walking tour of the historic city of York.

In addition to delving into York’s Roman and Viking past you will also explore York’s rich Jewish history on a guided walking tour through the city’s medieval streets. Visit key sites, hear fascinating stories, and see the famous Shambles, City Walls and the Old Jewish Cemetery. Your tour will also include a guided tour of the beautiful York Minster, one of the world’s most magnificent cathedrals.

After the tour your guide will see you back to your hotel where you will have the rest of the afternoon at your leisure.

Day 3 - Sunday 27th April - Private Bradford Jewish Heritage Tour

This morning a private car and driver will collect you and your guide from your hotel and drive you to Bradford, home of the oldest Synagogues in Yorkshire.

In Bradford you will meet the Jewish Heritage Guide for Yorkshire who will take you and your guide on a two hour walking tour focussing on Bradford’s Jewish heritage. The Jewish story in Bradford dates back to the 19th century when German Jewish merchants and textile traders settled in the city, contributing to its industrial growth. Despite declining numbers over the years, efforts have been made to preserve Bradford’s Jewish legacy, including restoring historic sites. Today, the city’s Jewish history remains an integral part of its diverse cultural identity.

After the tour you will have the rest of the afternoon to further explore Yorkshire with your guide.

Your driver will then drop you and your guide back at your York hotel where you will bid her farewell.

Tipping Guidelines

We don’t generally recommend a set amount. We would encourage you to ask yourself what you were expecting from your guide and then think about how they have exceeded those expectations. Choose what you think reflects this and you are comfortable with.

For local services such as restaurants again tipping is not expected but if you receive great service then 10-15% of the bill is normal.

Luggage Notes

Please note that we expect travellers to bring an average of One Large Holdall or Suitcase and up to Two smaller day-bags or hand-luggage sized pieces. If you expect to bring more than this then please let us know well in advance of arrival so that we can ensure there is capacity for this (additional charges will apply if separate luggage transfers are required).
