Glasgow is one of Europe’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. It boasts world famous art collections, and is famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture. The city has some of the best shopping in the UK outside of London, first-class sports and leisure facilities, a vast array of restaurants, bars and exciting nightlife. Gather at the hotel in Glasgow at 6pm to meet your trip leader and learn about the journey that lies ahead.
If you arrive early, why not take a stroll along the River Clyde, once at the heart of the city’s ship building industry. After the meeting, you could head out to a nearby restaurant or grab a ‘fish supper’ in the lively Merchant City. Known for its pedestrianized areas, outdoor eating, trendy designer shops and ever-changing developments, the Merchant City is Glasgow with style, and one of the most popular areas to visit for tourists and locals alike.

Catching the early morning train to Fort William, you will enjoy incredible scenery as you travel the world-famous West Highland Line. Arriving in Fort William early afternoon, you will have time to jump in a taxi and catch the famous gondola. Whisking you up the face of Aonach Mor you will enjoy incredible elevated views of this wild region. This evening, enjoy a warming dram by the fire as you have a private whisky tasting in your the spectacular main castle building of your hotel. You can choose to arrange a taxi into town for dinner tonight, or treat yourselves with the Inverlochy Castle dining experience.

Completing your journey on the West Highland Line, you will be delighted with spectacular views as the train snakes its way along the coastline and over the famous Harry Potter viaduct to the Port of Mallaig. Here, you will hop off the train and onto the ferry which will take you over the sea to Skye. The rest of the day is free for you to explore, perhaps wander the streets of Portree, enjoying this quaint seaside town. Or maybe take a wander to discover the rock pools along the shoreline.

The Isle of Skye has so many options to explore. Take a short morning hike with your guide, enjoying fantastic views, if you’re lucky enough you may even spot some of Skye’s local wildlife, such as Otters or Seals.
After the hike, embark on a private bus tour, to explore one of Skye’s most famous landscapes as you circumnavigate the Trotternish Peninsula. Take in views of the Old Man of Storr, gaze over the sea cliffs to see the stunning waterfall at Kilt Rock, and maybe explore a local gallery or museum along the way. Finish with a visit Dunvegan Castle, the ancestral home of the clan MacLeod. Top off the afternoon by visiting the local seal colony, a favourite with children and adults alike, before heading back to your welcoming hotel.

Leaving the misty Isle behind, you will be taken by transfer over the iconic Skye Bridge, keeping an eye out for the resident seals. Next stop is the stunning Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most photographed castles in Scotland. After a scenic boat cruise on the famous Loch Ness, transfer north stopping at the Loch Ness Centre where you can walk through 500 million years of history, hearing the myths, legends and scientific research linked to this elusive creature. Our final stop is the capital of the Highlands, Inverness, your base for the next 2 nights.

Spend today exploring Inverness, starting with a scenic walk alongside the River BNess. This local’s favourite follows a trail which weaves over some small islands in the river, before crossing a graceful suspension bridge to complete the loop, finishing close to a local arts centre looking up at Inverness Castle.
The rest of the day is free to explore – visit a local whisky shop, catch some local live music, do some souvenir shopping, or set the kids on a scavenger hunt! If you enjoy books a hidden delight is Leakey’s bookshop, a must-see for book lovers. Follow your curiosity!

Watch the Highlands fly past as you make your way to Scotland’s capital city on the train. This afternoon take a private walking tour and see the city from a completely different perspective as you hear the stories from your tour guide who has been directly affected by homelessness. They will provide you with a totally unique experience and offer their insights into the city that most people don’t get to experience.
