On arrival at Edinburgh airport you will be met by your private transfer driver and whisked into the heart of the city. At the hotel you can leave your luggage.
Tonight, you can head out to dine at one of Edinburgh’s many amazing restaurants as a fantastic way to start your time in Scotland.

Today you are joined by a local historic guide and set out to visit 3 key Outlander filming locations within a stone’s throw of Edinburgh. Your tour includes Linlithgow Palace which was used for filming scenes of Jamie’s incarceration in Wentworth Prison, it is also the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, Blackness Castle which provides the setting for headquarters of Black Jack Randall and Hopetoun House which was used to create some of the scenes of Jamie and Claire’s Paris apartment.
This afternoon delight in a sumptuous afternoon tea at leaving you to enjoy a special Afternoon Tea at The Signet Library. This unique building was also used for an Outlander filming location, starring at the Governor’s Mansion in Jamaica. Enjoy a glass of champagne with your delectable mini treats. This evening, why not relax and enjoy your luxurious hotel in the heart of the city.

Today you will make your way to the capital of the Highlands, Inverness. On the way stop to explore the quaint town of Culross. This village was used in several episodes of Outlander and is best remembered as being used as Cranesmuir in season 1. The town is owned by the National Trust for Scotland who have helped to preserve the many historical buildings in the town, many that date back to the 18th century. Continue north and perhaps stop at Doune Castle which featured in Outlander as the fictional Castle Leoch.
As you make your way through the mountains and the ancient pine forest of the Cairngorm National Park, you will stop to explore another Outlander filming location, the Highland Folk Museum. This experience transports you back to the 18th century to see how life was in the Highlands in the 1700’s to 1950’s and was also used in filming as the MacKenzie village.
This is evening is free for you to settle in, rest and relax at your lovely hotel.

Today you will head to the iconic Culloden Battlefield, site of the failed final battle of the 1745 Jacobite uprising. Featured in seasons 2 and 3 of Outlander, you will explore this incredible site and soak in the atmosphere that still surrounds this place. Later you will explore the Clava Cairns, a wonderful collection of burial chambers dating back to the Bronze Age and thought to be the inspiration for the Craigh na Dun standing stones which transport Claire back in time.
This afternoon discover the historic Fort George, a secure base built for King George II’s Army as a secure garrison in the wake of the Battle of Culloden.

Today you head to the ‘Misty Isle’ through some of Scotland’s most stunning scenery. You have the option to stop for a short hike along the way allowing you to stretch your legs and properly get into the Scottish landscape, your guide will suggest appropriate routes depending on the weather and how you feel. Then spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the magnificent views from your hotel over the water to the spectacular Cuillin Mountain Range.

Today you have a full day to explore some of the special corners of this magical island with your guide. You will be spoilt for choice with fascinating history and dramatic landscape on offer, with unique hiking routes through stark and unusual rock formations and sweeping coast and mountain views to enjoy in almost every direction. This ‘misty isle’ is also home to so many curious stories and legends of fairies and islander culture, your guide will share some of the best hidden gems and personalise the day to your interests.

Today you will make your way to the iconic Gleneagles Hotel. On the way you will travel through the stunning valley of Glencoe, the valley where is it said, the start of the Jacobite uprising was born when the Glencoe Massacre was condoned by the British Army. You can choose to stop here and take a short hike with your guide, from hidden valleys to secret glens there are some wonderful small hikes where you can really soak in the atmosphere of this place.
Continue onwards to the beautiful Gleneagles Hotel. Your afternoon is free to explore the stunning surroundings or just relax and enjoy the world class hotel facilities.

Your morning is free to have a leisurely breakfast and enjoy the activities and facilities at this incredible hotel. This afternoon a private transfer will collect you and whisk you back to the city of Edinburgh.
You will arrive back in Edinburgh in the late afternoon for one final night in the city to enjoy some delicious Scottish cuisine and to raise a glass to your Outlander Adventure
