Day 2 - Sunday 14th April - Exploring Edinburgh & Transfer To Gleneagles

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with an expert local city guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past. Your city guide will depart from here, leaving you to enjoy lunch and make your way back to your hotel.

At the Balmoral your private guide, who will also act as your drive for the next few days together, will meet you and together you will head north. Stop to explore the layers of history in Stirling Castle on the way and hear the tales of royalty and pitched battles which have played out here. Depending on the timings there may be time for another quick stop along the way, before your guide takes you to the luxurious Gleneagles resort.

Day 3 - Monday 15th April - Exploring Perthshire Highlands with Your Guide

Today you have the full day to explore the local area of Perthshire Highlands with your private guide. Discuss the options with your guide and the day will be personalised to your interests and curiosity. Perhaps visit the splendours of an elegant palace that was once the crowning place of Scottish Kings and Queens. Stroll the beautiful gardens and explore the unique Murray Star Maze before you continue.

There are many options for gentle strolls taking in the beautiful scenery, which your guide will bring to life for you as you go. Or walk the hallways and gardens of Blair Castle, which has been inhabited by the Dukes of Atholl for 700 years. We strongly recommend a visit to an award-winning chocolatier as the perfect place to enjoy a delectable sweet treat before your guide takes you back to your accommodation.

Overnight: Auchterarder | Gleneagles Hotel
Room Type: Large Manor Family Room as Twin
Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 4 - Tuesday 16th April - St Andrews & The Kingdom Of Fife

This morning you are heading to the Kingdom of Fife. Step back in time at Falkland Palace and discover a Royal pleasure palace beloved by Mary Queen Of Scots with fabulous tapestries and artworks that are hundreds of years old. See the oldest surviving real Tennis Court, walk in the beautiful grounds and explore the basement Apothecary, which you may even recognise from a certain popular TV series.

Depending on timings, you may want to see if you can fit in a visit to one of the charming and picturesque fishing villages with your guide before you continue to St Andrews. These harbour houses are now popular with artists and writers but the sea still has a heavy influence on everyday life for most people in the local communities.

Enjoy a free afternoon self-exploring the characterful university town of St Andrews, full of history and stories. More recently the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge famously met during their studies here. However, St Andrews is much better known for being the ‘birthplace of the great game’, and the love of golf is evident.
