Picturesque coastal towns and villages, green pastoral fields, soaring cliffs, wild barren landscapes, the crash of the ocean, the laugh of a local. The Celtic Isles are romantic, historic, and authentic, a home away from home where both old and modern seem to cohabit seamlessly on a couple of small islands in the middle of the sea.

Packed with history and tradition your days are spent exploring some of the regions famous and off the beaten track sites of natural, cultural and political interest. A world-renowned food scene means your evenings are spent dining in style and with the promise of a pub just around the corner, music and laughter are never far away. Your trip to Ireland and Scotland will surprise and delight you but it’s the people you will meet who will stay with you, long after your journey has taken you home.

Notes On Weather & Flexibility

Weather – May in Scotland can be a very wide range of weather, and very changeable. Suitable clothing and footwear is essential, as well as a flexible attitude. Plans may have to be changed to accommodate Mother Nature, and your guide will have back-up plans that they will discuss with you if required.

Essential Packing List

  • Waterproof jacket with hood
  • Waterproof over-pants
  • Sturdy hiking boots/shoes (sneakers or tennis shoes are not suitable for any hiking in Scotland)
  • Day pack 20-30 litre for carrying water and extra layers
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Warm layers
  • Warm hat, gloves and a neck gaiter
  • Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Smart casual attire for dinners

Note: If you would like us to provide trekking poles for your use then please just let us know and we will ensure these are available for you.

Tipping Guidelines

For tipping our guides – We don’t generally recommend a set amount as tipping is not expected in the same way that it is in North America. However, similar North American travel companies generally suggest something along the lines of £10-30 per person per day for your guide, which is a wide range to choose from. Generally, we would encourage you to ask yourself what you were expecting from your guide, and then think about how they have exceeded those expectations and choose an amount you are comfortable with.

For local services such as restaurants again tipping is not expected but if you receive great service then 10-15% of the bill is normal.

Luggage Notes

Please note that we expect travellers to bring an average of One Large Holdall or Suitcase and up to Two smaller day-bags or hand-luggage sized pieces. If you expect to bring more than this then please let us know well in advance of arrival so that we can ensure there is capacity for this (additional charges will apply if separate luggage transfers are required).

Met In Three – Creative | Caring | Fun

With over 30 years of experience in the traditional arts and cultural heritage, I am passionate about sharing Scotland’s rich history and vibrant traditions with visitors from around the globe. As a tour guide, I specialise in bespoke experiences that blend storytelling, music, and local insights.

My tours offer a unique glimpse into Scottish and Highland life, from exploring ancient archaeological sites to engaging with the living culture of Gaelic and local communities. I believe in creating memorable connections, whether through a lively cèilidh (social gathering), a shared whisky tasting, or a deep discussion about our shared heritage.

In addition to guiding, I am an internationally recognised musician, which allows me to incorporate the sounds and stories of Scotland into every tour. My aim is to provide an authentic and enriching experience that resonates with each guest, leaving them with a deeper appreciation of Scotland’s beauty and culture.

When I’m not guiding tours, I focus on the development and promotion of traditional music and song in Scotland. I enjoy hill-walking, paddleboarding, reading, and travelling, which enrich my understanding of the landscapes and cultures I share with visitors. I speak Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic and have a smattering of French and Norwegian.

Favourite Place to Play

  • Loch Ness—There are so many great stories surrounding the loch, including Urquhart Castle, Fort Augustus, and the monster herself!
  • Isle of Skye – There are so many stories and beautiful places to visit on this iconic island, including Sleat (the garden of Skye), Dunvegan Castle, and, of course, the Old Man of Stoer.
  • Outer Hebrides – As a Gaelic speaker, I always love to visit the heartland of Scottish Gaelic speakers and the wealth of cultural experiences you get while there.
  • Edinburgh – Our beautiful, ancient capital city is hard to beat for its history, architecture, festivals, and cultural offerings. I love wandering around the old town.

Not a lot of People Know This

In my 20s, I toured globally with my Celtic music band “Anam”, from launching albums in Tokyo to playing at big festivals, theatres and on TV and radio.

Me In Three – People | Passion | Adventure

I am a keen Gaeilgeoir (Irish speaker) with a passion for the history and heritage of the Emerald Isle. I feel privileged to be in a position to showcase Ireland to those willing to experience it through adventure. Packing up the boat, bike or campervan has and always will give me happiness.

Favourite Place to Play

After spending years wandering remote areas of the world trying to find the ideal hideaway, I’ve come to realise that the most beautiful place in the world has been on my doorstep this whole time. The lakes, mountains, shores and rivers of Connemara have everything an outdoor enthusiast could ever dream of exploring.

Not a lot of People Know This

I was so cold one time, I asked a Bedouin man on camelback to buy the socks he was wearing. They stank. I still have them.
