Day by Day

Day 1 - Monday 24th June - Welcome to Dublin

Arriving in Ireland today, a private transfer will pick you up from the airport and whisk you into the city to your 5 star hotel in the city centre. Check-in is at 3pm however feel free to leave your bags, freshen up, or have a bite to eat. Head out in the afternoon to enjoy a walking tour with a local private guide through this vibrant capital city, with its mix of 1,000 years of architecture from the mediaeval to the Georgian to the modern. See the Georgian style Merrion Square, lush St. Stephen’s Green and Fitzwilliam Square, as well as O’Connell Street, the site of the ‘1916 Uprising’ that led to Ireland’s independence in 1922. Your guide is also a historian who will bring the city to life with colourful tales of life in the city in times gone by.

Day 2 - Tuesday 25th June - Galway Food Tour & Ballynahinch Castle

This morning, your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel and together you will head west. Galway is known locally as the ‘town of the tribes’ – the small centre of cobblestone streets and colourful store fronts is vibrant, fun and cosmopolitan. What better way to spend an afternoon here than a delectable food tour? Tantalise your taste buds with a delightful journey through Galway’s culinary scene. From artisanal cheeses, craft beers, to handcrafted chocolate, this will be a true feast for the senses. Afterwards, arrive in your luxury castle hotel, set amongst 700 acres of private estate in the Connemara region, offering the perfect blend of intimate and opulent. Tonight, your guide will join you for a welcome dinner and you can discuss the week to come.

Day 3 - Wednesday 26th June - Sheepdog Demonstration & Killary Fjord

This morning your guide will take you on a 45-minute drive through the windswept Twelve Bens Mountain Range to Killary, Ireland’s only fjord. You will start the day with a sheepherding demonstration at a local farm, and you’ll have the opportunity to cut peat from the bogs – a method that’s been used to harvest fuel in these parts for eons. From there, you’ll walk an abandoned famine route along the southern shoreline of the fjord. After a pit stop at a local café for lunch, head back to Ballynahinch Castle. You will have some free time to enjoy the estate this afternoon – go fly fishing, take a walk around the estate, or simply kick back with a book by the river. This evening we would recommend dinner at Ballynahinch’s Owenmore Restaurant, which overlooks the salmon river and the wooded estate.

Day 4 - Thursday 27th June - The Burren

This morning you have a 2 hour drive to the Burren. You’ll have lunch at a local tearoom and Perfumery where only natural and organic ingredients are used in production. It’s the oldest working perfumery in Ireland!  Afterward, you’ll set off for a walk in the nearby Slieve Carran Nature Reserve. Its unique, striated limestone landscape was shaped by ancient seas and is famous for its Mediterranean and alpine wildflowers. The region is steeped in history as well, with over 2,500 historical monuments to be explored. Afterward, it’s a short drive to your hotel, Gregan’s Castle, a former retreat for poets and authors like J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. You’ll be back in time for a cool pint of Guinness by the fire before dinner at its award-winning restaurant.

Day 5 - Friday 28th June - The Cliffs of Moher

Set sail today with a ferry boat cruise under Ireland’s famed Cliffs of Moher for views most never see. Rising 700 feet from the crashing Atlantic Ocean, the cliffs are home to a myriad of seabirds and aquatic life with views of the stacks, the Aran Islands and O’Brien’s tower all from the safety and comfort of the ferry. This evening at a local, cosy pub, a resident whiskey expert will treat you to an appreciation session and will introduce you to a few of the lesser known Irish whiskeys. Tastings are entirely optional and you can choose to take part in the tasting, as the host will provide a range of soft drinks as well.

Day 6 - Saturday 29th June - Adare Village & Kenmare

This morning head 3 hours further south to the Kingdom of Kerry. En route, stop off in what was once voted Ireland’s prettiest village – Adare. Spend some time here browsing the shops and thatched roof cottages before grabbing a coffee and a bite to eat. Your 5 star hotel and base for the next few nights is just outside the small town of Kenmare. After check in choose to partake in some onsite activities at Sheen Falls. You could try fishing, falconry, horse-riding, golf, or simply relax in the spa! We are happy to book any onsite activities for you.

Day 7 - Sunday 30th June - Seaweed Foraging along the Ring of Kerry

This morning, your guide will drive you along the Ring of Kerry to meet one of our favourite characters. A fisherman, foraging expert, storyteller and a true Irish gent, John will take you on a wander along the shoreline learning about life on Ireland’s west coast all the while regaling you with tales of characters of the region, from lonely monks to 18th century civil rights activists to mythical heroes. Together, enjoy a few nibbles of seaweed, learning how they earned their reputation as a superfood. Afterwards, visit the home of one of Ireland’s most famous revolutionary political figures. Tonight your guide will join you for a farewell dinner.

Day 8 - Monday 1st July - Depart
