Day 1 - Tuesday 1st October - Welcome to Scotland

On arrival at the airport you will be met by a private driver who will transfer you to your city centre hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can choose to relax at the hotel or head out to start exploring this unique city.

Day 2 - Wednesday 2nd October - Exploring Edinburgh

This morning immerse yourselves in the winding cobbled streets of historic Old Town Edinburgh as you enjoy a private walking tour with your private expert local guide. Discover the highlights of this unique capital city from the Palace of Holyroodhouse all the way up the ‘Royal Mile’ to the mighty ancient fortress which is Edinburgh Castle itself. Walk the ramparts atop castle rock and hear the tales of the One O’Clock gun and the stories of locals of times past. Your guide will leave you here so that you can spend as much time in the castle as you wish.

You then have a free afternoon to continue explorations at your own pace, pick up souvenirs or relax as you prefer.

Day 3 - Thursday 3rd October - Journey to the Valley of Glencoe, Stirling Castle and Distillery Tour

This morning, you will meet your private guide, who will also be your driver at your hotel and you will set off for the west coast. On the way you will stop off to visit Stirling Castle, which is one of the grandest castles in Scotland with an imposing location. Your next stop will be a tour and tasting at the Glenturret Distillery which has long stood proud as Scotland’s oldest working distillery since 1763. Continuing through the beautiful scenery you will arrive in the valley of Glencoe, and your accommodation overlooking the incredible scenery of the valley.

Day 4 - Friday 4th October - Visit to Inveraray Castle & Visit Oban

Today, you will visit Inveraray Castle which stands on the shores of Loch Fyne and dates back to the 1400s, enjoy a tour of the castle and gardens, followed by a special visit to meet the archivist who will take you on a journey into the castles history. Stop for lunch and to explore in the seaside town of Oban, known as the seafood capital of Scotland, before making your way back to Glencoe.

Day 5 - Saturday 5th October - Tales of Glencoe

Glencoe – a valley of myths and legends, where you can feel the true essence of Scotland seeping from the well trodden trails and drifting down the towering peaks. Your guide will discuss all the options for today – there are many choices where you can get off the beaten track with a short walk and hear stories about the tragic past of this beautiful area. To end the day, you will arrive at a traditional hikers tavern where you will meet a local storyteller. Sit back with a wee dram and let the stories of the area wash over you as you immerse yourself in the history and culture of the magical part of Scotland.

Day 6 - Sunday 6th October - Road to the Isles

Today you will leave the valley of Glencoe, embarking on a journey known as the Road to the Isles, this is frequently listed as one of the most beautiful drives in the world and it is easy to see why. You may wish to stop at the historic Glenfinnan viaduct, whose graceful arches featured in several of the Harry Potter films. At the small fishing town of Mallaig you board the afternoon ferry for the short trip over the sea to Skye and make your way to your hotel.

Day 7 - Monday 7th October - Dunvegan Castle and Exploring Skye

Today we will also enjoy a visit to Dunvegan Castle, learning it’s legends and history, and wander around it’s beautiful surrounding gardens. It is the only castle to have been occupied by the same family, the Macleod clan for 800 years. Depending on the time you may enjoy a short hike to Neist Point. Visit the fishing town of Portree for some lunch then enjoy an afternoon led by your curiosity exploring this beautiful island.

Day 8 - Tuesday 8th October - Farewell to Scotland

This morning you will make your way to Inverness, stopping to explore the elegant Eilean Donan castle, set out on the water on a private island and surrounded by majestic scenery. You will then continue onwards to the airport to make your onward connections in the afternoon. Waving farewell to Scotland for now but taking with you special memories and wonderful stories of your explorations.
