Day by Day

Day 1 - Tuesday 26th March - Welcome to Dublin

Arriving in Ireland today, a private transfer will pick you up from the airport and whisk you into the city to your 5 star hotel in the city centre. Check-in is at 3pm however feel free to leave your bags, freshen up, or have a bite to eat.

Head out in the afternoon to enjoy a walking tour with a local private guide through this vibrant capital city, with its mix of 1,000 years of architecture from the mediaeval to Georgian to modern. See the Georgian style Merrion Square, lush St. Stephen’s Green and Fitzwilliam Square, as well as O’Connell Street, the site of the ‘1916 Uprising’ that led to Ireland’s independence in 1922. Your guide is also a historian who will bring the city to life with colourful tales of life in the city in times gone by.

Day 2 - Wednesday 27th March - Galway City Food Tour

This morning, pick up your rental car and make your way to Connemara. First, stop off in Galway, the capital of Ireland’s west. Known as the ‘town of the tribes’ the small centre of cobblestone streets and colourful store fronts is vibrant, fun and cosmopolitan. What better way to spend an afternoon here than a delectable food tour? Stop off in the city and tantalise your taste buds with a delightful journey through Galway’s culinary scene. From artisanal cheeses, craft beers, to handcrafted chocolate, this will be a true feast for the senses.

Heading further West, your accommodation for the next three nights, Ballynahinch Castle, is one of Ireland’s finest luxury castle hotels, set in a private 700 acre estate of woodland, rivers and walks in the heart of Connemara, Co. Galway. This authentic and unpretentious Castle Hotel stands proudly overlooking its famous salmon fishery, with a backdrop of the beautiful Twelve Bens Mountain range. This evening, settle in by the fire or take a walk on the grounds before a delicious dinner onsite.

Day 3 - Thursday 28th March - Desert Island Landing

After a leisurely breakfast, make your way to the small fishing village of Roundstone where today you will board a boat with a fourth generation fisherman and have a picnic on a deserted island. Look out for the Roundstone Bay’s resident seals as well as dolphins, sunfish, otters & basking sharks. Along the way you will pull up a lobster pot or two, watching with excitement to see if you have any keepers. Pass by the stunning beaches of Gurteen & Dog’s Bay as you make your way to the deserted Island of Inishlacken, with its panoramic views, picturesque unspoilt beaches & pristine waters. Take in the views while you tuck in to a fresh, local seafood lunch before heading back to the mainland.

Day 4 - Friday 29th March - Inishbofin Island

This morning, grab a ferry to explore the ancient mysteries of Connemara with a local guide who will bring the landscape, traditions and mythology of the region alive. Our route takes us to a hauntingly beautiful island where you’ll hear tales of pirates and invasions. Be sure to taste some of the spectacular local seafood in an idyllic island pub. Once back on the mainland, after dinner, settle into a tiny local pub and listen to some traditional Irish music.

Day 5 - Saturday 30th March - Dromoland Castle

This morning, make the 2 hour drive down to Clare – it’s time to check in to one of Ireland’s finest castle hotels, the 5* Dromoland Castle! The opulent surroundings of Ireland’s premier castle hotel are yours to indulge in today. We have booked you in for an afternoon Hawk Walk – get up close and personal with falcons, hawks and owls on the castle grounds. Afterwards, Dromoland Castle’s leafy estate makes an atmospheric setting for a favourite county pursuit – clay pigeon shooting! All you need to bring is concentration, quick reactions and a keen eye. This evening, experience true Irish country living as you dine onsite.

Day 6 - Sunday 31st March - The Burren Smokehouse & The Cliffs of Moher

After a relaxing morning onsite, embark on a captivating journey through the heart of culinary excellence at The Burren Smokehouse, a hidden gem nestled amidst the rugged beauty of County Clare. On this private tour you’ll have the opportunity to chat with the owner as you shuck oysters and indulge in a glass of chilled champagne, the perfect accompaniment to the salty, sea-kissed oysters.

Finish your day off with a visit to Ireland’s most famous cliffs – The Cliffs of Moher! Rising 700 feet from the crashing Atlantic Ocean, the cliffs are home to a myriad of seabirds and aquatic life with views of the stacks, the Aran Islands and O’Brien’s tower. Take a tour of the visitors centre or take a short walk along the cliffs edge.

Day 7 - Monday 1st April - The Burren Whiskey

Today you will enjoy a tour of a micro-distillery to understand and experience their unique process for yourself. In the heart of The Burren’s spectacular and picturesque landscape, hear from the people who are passionate about reviving the ancient craft of Sean Gael distilling and learn about the origins of whiskey production in The Burren. Sample the spirit at various stages of distillation and taste the unique sweetness they call ‘honey from the rock’.

Afterwards, we recommend lunch in a local perfumery. Relax in the rose-covered Tea Rooms, which serve a mouth watering selection of organic cakes, scones and pies.

Day 8 - Tuesday 2nd April - Return to Dublin

After enjoying a relaxing morning at Dromoland Castle, make the 2.5 hour drive back to Dublin city centre. Drop your rental car back and Dublin is yours to explore!

This evening, we have arranged a whiskey tasting in the Jameson Distillery. Founded by John Jameson in 1780, today the former factory stands as a monument to Irish Whiskey in the heart of Dublin. Generations of the Jameson family have served at the helm, crafting a tradition of distilling that in its heyday employed hundreds of workers, including coopers, carpenters, blacksmiths, painters and stone masons — and some cats too! Enjoy a magnificent educational tour and tasting at the original site of Jameson Whiskey.

Day 9 - Wednesday 3rd April - Depart
