There will be time this afternoon to explore the locality, with horse drawn Jarvey’s plodding around the town, plenty of pubs and restaurants to visit and of course the offer of a live music session to entertain. relax and settle in with your guide joining you for dinner and your perfect introduction to Ireland.

The Killarney National Park, the first National Park to be established in Ireland was created when the Muckross Estate was donated to the state in 1932. Today the park encompasses 26,000 acres of mountains, woodlands, lakes, waterfalls and history. Today your guide will help you discover some of Killarney’s charm and hidden gems. At Ross Castle, board a boat, relax and enjoy the tranquil lake waters with stunning mountain scenery all around while hearing local lore and legend from your story-teller boatman whose ancestors have been working on these waters for generations. Alighting at Ross Castle, explore this 15th century tower house and keep before making your way to Torc waterfall for the end to a perfect day.

Arriving in either Dublin or Shannon Airport today, your private guide/ driver will meet you at the airport and together you will journey along The Wild Atlantic Way and to Ireland’s famed Cliffs of Moher. Connecting the lively villages of Liscannor and Doolin, the full walk at the cliffs is 20km long and can take up to 4.5 hours however, you will enjoy a section of it this afternoon cumulating at the cliffs with tea and cake in the visitors centre before making your way to your accommodation for the evening where your guide will join you for dinner.

It’s hard to resist the allure of one of the many islands that dot the Irish coastline and today you and your guide will take to the water and ferry to The Aran Islands. The history of these islands goes back millennia and today Gaelic is still the daily spoken language of the inhabitants. The Aran islands seem to defy their size by all they have to offer: breathtaking scenery, mediaeval castles, cliffs and prehistoric forts are all to be found on this little group of islands.
Inis Mór, the largest of the three islands, is your destination today. The first port of call is a goat farm, here Gabriel, fisherman-come-goat farmer and island native will introduce you to his flock of extraordinarily cute goats. You’ll taste his award-winning cheese, but more importantly, you will leave with his wealth of knowledge on the island’s history, language and culture. We will make sure you don’t miss the incredible prehistoric cliff top fortress at Dun Aenghus as well as some hidden spots along the island’s shore.

The Burren’s rocky alien landscape is said to be the inspiration for Middle Earth in JRR Tolkien’s world-famous Lord of the Rings trilogy – and today as you explore this other-worldly region, it’s easy to see why! You will visit a local sheep farm where you’ll enjoy a private tour and watch the sheepdogs at work. This tour will also include a walk to a prehistoric stone fort, with a worldly history which will be brought to life by the farm’s local guide and multi-sensory presentations. Excavations from the site, ranging from Venetian glass and Baltic amber, serve to juxtapose the ancient settlement against its contemporary trading inhabitants.
This evening at a local pub, the owner and resident whiskey expert will treat you to an appreciation session and will introduce you to a few of the lesser known Irish whiskeys.

Galway is the capital of Ireland’s west. Known as the ‘town of the tribes’ the small centre of cobblestone streets and colourful store fronts is vibrant, fun and cosmopolitan. A local military historian will meet you at the city’s main square to guide you through the bustling alleys sharing Galway City’s important roles in the clash of the French, Spanish, Russian and British Empires from 1700 to 1922, including in Ireland’s revolution for independence.
Your accommodation this evening is a fitting finale to your time on the Wild Atlantic Way. Ballynahinch Castle is one of Ireland’s finest luxury castle hotels, set in a private 700 acre estate of woodland, rivers and walks in the heart of Connemara, Co. Galway. The hills and mountains of Connemara are defined by the ocean surrounding, and this is particularly evident at the beautiful Killary Fjord. This morning you will visit a family run shellfish farm where you can head out onto the fjord, lift a string of mussels for hauling and harvesting and understand the lifecycle of these delicious shellfish. After, your guide will lead you on a short hike along the shores along the fjord, delving into Irish history at a famine-era abandoned village and bringing to life the rich and ancient histories of the landscape.
Head into town this evening for a traditional music session in a local pub after a fantastic dinner of locally caught seafood. Your guide will join you making this your final guided nights together.

On Connemara’s western edge lies the island of Inishbofin. Little visited due to its remoteness, the island is a distillation of the best of Connemara. Here you will meet a local archaeologist whose wealth of knowledge will bring the island’s millennia of history to life as you walk. Our lunch of freshly caught local seafood overlooking the harbour is a surprising treat in the middle of the day. Inhabited as far back as 8000 BC, there’s no shortage of history, folklore and built heritage to explore before ferrying back to the mainland.
Your guide will again join you for dinner this evening, as you celebrate a magnificent vacation in Ireland.
