Day by Day

Day 1 - Tuesday 30th July - Welcome to Dublin

Arriving in Ireland today, a private transfer will pick you up from the airport and whisk you into the city to your 5 star hotel in the city centre. Check-in is at 3pm however feel free to leave your bags, freshen up, or have a bite to eat.

Head out in the afternoon to enjoy a walking tour with a local private guide through this vibrant capital city, with its mix of 1,000 years of architecture from the mediaeval to Georgian to modern. See the Georgian style Merrion Square, lush St. Stephen’s Green and Fitzwilliam Square, as well as O’Connell Street, the site of the ‘1916 Uprising’ that led to Ireland’s independence in 1922. Your guide is also a historian who will bring the city to life with colourful tales of life in the city in times gone by.

Day 2 - Wednesday 31st July - Kilkenny Castle & Kenmare

This morning, your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel and whisk you away to Kerry – but not before stopping into Ireland’s rolling green midlands! The vibrant Kilkenny is a stronghold of Ireland’s national sport, hurling. Ireland’s eastern seaboard was Europe’s centre for scholarly learning in the middle ages, as evidenced by the plethora of ancient monasteries, abbeys and churches in this part of the country. Kilkenny’s centre piece is the 11th century castle – a centre for Norman rule that has survived centuries of invasion and turmoil. Arriving in the Kingdom of Kerry, your 5 star hotel and base for the next few nights is just outside the small town of Kenmare and this evening your guide will join you for dinner together.

Day 3 - Thursday 1st August - Seaweed Foraging along the Ring of Kerry

As you make your way into the southern part of the Ring of Kerry, the landscape becomes wilder and more rugged. At a secluded bay, meet a true Irish gent, local foraging expert and storyteller who will take you on a wander along the shoreline learning about life on Ireland’s West Coast. Have a toast and enjoy some seaweed nibbles including the flavoursome Duilleasc and Nori, the famous sushi roll wrapping. Afterwards, visit the ancestral home of one of Ireland’s most famous revolutionary political figures. Daniel O Connell was a lawyer, politician and statesman and campaigned throughout his life for equal rights for all Irish people.

Day 4 - Friday 2nd August - Exploring Killarney National Park

After a leisurely breakfast, head north into Killarney National Park – the jewel in the county’s crown and the largest of Ireland’s National Parks. Today the park encompasses 26,000 acres of mountains, woodlands, lakes, waterfalls and history. Your guide will help you discover some of Killarney’s most breath-taking mountains, lakes and castles as you explore the park together. Visit Torc Waterfall and take a tour of the imposing 15th century Ross Castle, before heading back to Kenmare. This evening, choose to partake in some onsite activities at Sheen Falls. You could try fishing, falconry, horse-riding, golf, or simply relax in the spa!

Day 5 - Saturday 3rd August - Rock of Cashel and Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers

Heading east towards Dublin, take your time travelling through Ireland’s hidden heartlands. Stop and visit the Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland’s most iconic collections of medieval buildings. Perched on a precipice of limestone in the Golden Vale, it offers over 1,000 years of fascinating history and folklore. Later, visit Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers and enjoy a private tour and tasting of the famously delicious blue cheese. Created in the 1980s, it’s still made on the same 200 acre farm, rich in the green grass of Tipperary. Tonight, you’re back in Dublin. Say goodbye to your guide and it’s time to relax before your flight home tomorrow.

Day 6 - Sunday 4th August - Dublin & Departure
