Mini Bio – After a lifetime in the industry, I chose to retire at 52 and finally pursue the adventures I had always dreamed of. For the past 15 years, I’ve been guiding across the world, spending a great deal of time in Scotland—particularly in Shetland, Orkney, and the Hebrides.

At home in the English Lake District, I find endless joy in walking the high fells with my cocker spaniel, immersing myself in the ever-changing landscape and the wildlife that surrounds me.

Mini Bio – The great outdoors is not just a place—it’s a powerful, magical experience that has the ability to inspire, challenge and transform. I dedicate the majority of my time to sharing these breathtaking landscapes with people from all walks of life, guiding them through diverse environments on a wide range of adventures. Whether it’s scaling rugged peaks, navigating serene waterways, trekking through dense forests or exploring vast open spaces, I thrive on creating meaningful connections between people and nature. Each journey is an opportunity to instil a sense of wonder, resilience and appreciation for the wild places that make our world extraordinary.

I love Scotland’s wild places and cycling through them. When I’m not on my bike I also enjoy sea kayaking and hill walking. After over a decade of leading overseas expeditions to Asia, Africa and Latin America combined with teaching Geography I’ve become about as settled down as a tour guide can ever be, living in the Highlands, although still like to venture overseas. I guided a sensory impairment charity trek to Kilimanjaro in June 2014.

Place to Play

Biking in the far north. Empty roads and wild trails.

Not a lot of people know this

I was the first person from Scotland to complete the ‘Tour Divide’, a 2745-mile long mountain bike race from Canada to Mexico.
