Day by Day

Day 1 - Wednesday 11th September - Arrival in Dublin- Free afternoon to explore

A private airport transfer will greet you on arrival and take you the short distance to your five star city central hotel. Check in is later this afternoon however you are free to leave your bags, freshen up grab a bite to eat and head out to start exploring Dublin.

There are so many activities and experiences right on your doorstep and we are happy to suggest some of our favourites depending on where your interests lie. Perhaps a walking tour of the city, a literary pub crawl, an immersive Gaelic Games experience or simply a tour of the iconic Guinness Storehouse.

Day 2 - Thursday 12th September - Little Museum Dublin

This morning head to the Little Museum of Dublin for a private tour with the curator enjoying a brief and entertaining dive into the social history of the city. Enjoy a delicious lunch in the cafe next door before spending the rest of the afternoon exploring the city.

Day 3 - Friday 13th September - Head West

Your private guide will meet you this morning. After some short introductions, together you will transfer west from Dublin to County Galway, the home to the Connemara National Park. Enroute, stop at the ancient monastic site of Clonmacnoise. St Ciarán founded his monastery on the banks of the River Shannon in the 6th Century. The monastery flourished and became a great seat of learning, a University of its time with students from all over Europe. Today the ruins include a Cathedral, two round towers, three high crosses, nine Churches and over 700 Early Christian grave slabs.
Check into the impressive lough Inagh Lodge for your first night on the west coast where your guide will join you for dinner this evening.

Day 4 - Saturday 14th September - Connemara National Park

Spend the day exploring Connemara with her myriad of pocket sized islands under the expert care of your guide. With pristine white sandy beaches such as those found at Dogs Bay and tiny fishing villages such a Roundstone and Clifden, there are ample opportunities for a pint or coffee and a chat with the locals. The Benedictine Abbey of Kylemore is a scene taken straight out of a fairytale with its history, chapel, gardens,  onsite chocolate making and daily music and song or simply relax at your hotel, perhaps with a spot of fly fishing or a walk around the grounds.

Day 5 - Sunday 15th September - Galway to Clare

The Burren’s rocky alien landscape is said to be the inspiration for Middle Earth in JRR Tolkien’s world-famous Lord of the Rings trilogy – and today as you explore this other-worldly region, it’s easy to see why today as you travel from Galway to Clare. Stop at an ancient Dolmen, said to be a portal tomb to the other world before visiting a local perfumery and cafe for lunch and a sweet treat.

End your day at Gregan’s Castle Hotel for a charming quiet escape in the country.

Day 6 - Monday 16th September - The Cliffs of Moher

Towering above the crashing Atlantic below, the cliffs are one of Ireland’s most visited and well known sights. Standing at over 700 ft high, these cliffs are home to a plethora of sea birds nesting from early spring onwards. Take a short walk along the cliffs, take advantage of the viewing points for those iconic pictures and witness the awesome power of mother nature before you take a tour of the visitors centre and cliff exhibition nearby.

The Cliffs of Moher have majestically faced the Atlantic for over 350 million years and their beauty is incomparable – it is Ireland’s most visited tourist attraction and when you visit you will understand why.

This evening, return to your luxury hotel retreat for a drink or two by the crackling fire.

Day 7 - Tuesday 17th September - Clare to Dingle

Leaving the flat landscape of the Burren behind you today, track south into The Kingdom of Kerry and to one of Kerry’s most well known peninsulas, Dingle.

Stopping on route in the picture postcard village of Adare is the perfect opportunity to do a little local browsing, visit the village tea rooms for an afternoon sweet treat and admire the traditional thatched roofed cottages of old.

Day 8 - Wednesday 18th September - The Dingle Peninsula

The Dingle Peninsula is Gaeltacht country where the Irish language is still widely spoken as a first language and culture and traditions remain strong. Your exploration of the peninsula today will take you to a fascinating array of ancient sites including iron age forts, beehive huts, inscribed stones, and historical churches. The Peninsula culminates at the dramatic Slea Head—Europe’s most western point and the insta famous Dunquin Harbour.

Day 9 - Thursday 19th September - Killarney National Park

Moving inwards from Dingle, your destination is Killarney National Park. Head out on the water with a tour of the Lakes of Killarney in a traditional wooden boat. Your boatman will regale you with tales of Kerry’s past and present and give you a fantastic introduction to this spectacular region. After, take a visit to Muckross House and discover the magic of this nineteenth century Victorian mansion set against the beauty of the park. For those looking for a more active afternoon, Killarney National Park is a wonderful location to explore on foot with a myriad of walks and hikes from a gentle stroll to a more challenging hike.

Day 10 - Friday 20th September - Foraging on the Ring of Kerry

Found on the shores of the south Kerry coast is one of our favourite characters. A fisherman, foraging expert, storyteller and a true Irish gent, John will take you on a wander along the shoreline learning about life on Ireland’s west coast all the while regaling you with tales of characters from the region, from lonely monks to 18th century civil rights activists to mythical heroes. Top your day off with a visit to the home of one of Ireland’s most famous revolutionary political figures before returning to your hotel this evening

Your guide will join you once again this evening to toast your trip in Ireland

Day 11 - Saturday 21st September - Kerry to Dubin

Time this morning for a last walk around Killarney, perhaps with a browse int he shops before we head back to the metropolis of Dublin.

Your guide will drop you at your airport hotel your final evening where you will spend your last night on Irish soil.

Day 12 - Sunday 22nd September - Depart

After breakfast, depending on your departure time, an airport shuttle will transfer you the short hop to the airport so you may begin your journey home.
