Day 1 - Tuesday 26th March - Welcome to the Cairngorms National Park

Meet your friendly Wilderness Scotland guide this morning, and head out to visit the Highland Folk Museum, a fantastic open-air exhibit that reveals how Highland folk lived many years ago. Visit the ruins of Ruthven Barracks (an impressive fortification built after the 1715 Jacobite uprising) before exploring Insh marshes RSPB reserve which is home to curlew, lapwing, redshank and snipe. Finish the day with a short transfer to the village of Aviemore, your base for the next few nights, and settle into your comfortable guest house for a relaxing evening.

Choose a gentle forest ride, land-rover trails or technical single tracks. Your guide will take you through spectacular scenery on some of our favourite local routes. Day 3 - Thursday 28th March - Guided hiking in the Cairngorms

The Cairngorm mountain range boasts five out of six of the highest peaks in the UK as well as miles of awe-inspiring native Caledonian pine forests, tumbling rivers and magical lochs. There are numerous fantastic hikes to choose from and along with your guide, you’ll decide what suits best. You could challenge yourself to “bag a Munro” (climb a mountain over 3,000ft/914.4m), which is easier than you may think if you head up Cairn Gorm from the ski road, marvelling at the stunning views of the spectacular Northern Corries. Ben Macdui is the second highest peak in the UK, and within reach, if you are an experienced hillwalker. For those preferring low level walks there are many delights to discover, including a fine short walk round one of the most beautiful lochs in Scotland, complete with a ruined island castle.

Overnight: Aviemore | Ravenscraig Guest House
Room Type: Double

Day 4 - Friday 29th March - Canoeing the Lochs

Following breakfast, head out with your guide on the shores of a beautiful loch surrounded by native forest. Under the expert tuition of your guide, you’ll practice different strokes and get comfortable before venturing out to explore the water and shoreline. Canoeing provides you with a unique opportunity to view this wild, mountainous corner of Scotland from a different perspective as well as the chance to spot wildlife. You may have some time this afternoon to either have a bit of free time, or you may wish to visit the Highland Wildlife Park, or go for a short hike with your guide.

Overnight: Aviemore | Ravenscraig Guest House
Room Type: Double
Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 5 - Saturday 30th March - Farewell to the Highlands

After your final breakfast, head out for a short but spectacular walk. The Uath Lochans, known locally as the Paw Print Lochans, are a hive of biodiversity. Raised boardwalks wind through reedy marshlands. Look out for a glimpse of the occasional frog and the glittering wings of dragonflies as they dart over the wetlands. Climbing a short way to Farleitter Crag, this small hill offers incredible elevated views of the water, forest and surrounding Cairngorm Mountains. Your guide will drop you off at Aviemore train station early this afternoon, concluding your Highland adventure, where you can make your way on your homeward journey.
