Day 1 - Monday 12th August - Transfer to the Lake District

Day 2 - Tuesday 13th August - Leven's Hall and Lake Windermere

Day 3 - Wednesday 14th August - Grasmere and Ambleside Delights

Day 4 - Thursday 15th August - Welcome to Scotland

This morning you will be transferred to Scotland via private transfer.

Arriving at the luxurious Inverlochy Castle Hotel, settle into your elegant rooms. The day concludes with an exquisite dinner at the hotel’s renowned restaurant, followed by a relaxing evening exploring the castle’s beautiful grounds or unwinding in the cozy lounge, reflecting on your first day’s adventures in Scotland.

Day 5 - Friday 16th August - Road to the Isles

This morning you will take the journey along the stunning Road to the Isles towards the small fishing village of Mallaig. This is frequently listed as one of the most beautiful drives in the world and it is easy to see why.

Your first stop may feel magically familiar, travel along the Road to the Isles to the historic Glenfinnan viaduct featured in several of the Harry Potter films. Visit the Glenfinnan Monument, a tribute to the Jacobite clansmen who fought and died for Bonnie Prince Charlie. Climb the monument for a panoramic view of Loch Shiel and the surrounding mountains.

Enjoy some lunch in Mallaig before returning along the stunning road back to Inverlochy Castle. Depending on your inclination you can stop for a short hike on the beautiful silver sands of Arisaig and admire the views over to the Isle of Skye before heading back towards the atmospheric Glencoe, a valley of myths and legends.

To end the day, you will arrive at a traditional hikers tavern where you will meet a local storyteller. Sit back with a wee dram and let the stories of the area wash over you as you immerse yourself in the history and culture of the magical part of Scotland.

Day 6 - Saturday 17th August - Indulge at Gleneagles

This morning you will join your guide to journey south to Gleneagles. Stopping along the way for a private tour of Innerpeffray Library, the first lending library in Scotland, delving into their fascinating archives. Meet the Keeper of the Books and even handle some of the original books.

On arrival at Gleneagles mid afternoon, settle into the tranquility of the spa or take some time out for a little retail therapy in the beautiful arcade situated inside the hotel.

If you are feeling adventurous, there are many experiences you can pre-book from tennis to falconry, archery or bike hire. Not forgetting the numerous dining options from casual lunch options to fine Scottish fare, you will be spoilt for choice.

Day 7 - Sunday 18th August - Private Castle Tour

Day 8 - Monday 19th August - Explore St Andrews

Embark on a royal history adventure today with your expert guide. Heading to the east coast to the historic town of St Andrews, take a walking tour led by a local city guide, delving into the town’s rich heritage with visits to St Andrews Castle, perched dramatically on a cliff, and the majestic ruins of St Andrews Cathedral. Explore the historic campus of the University of St Andrews, steeped in tradition and royal connections.

After a leisurely lunch, take a picturesque drive to Falkland Palace, nestled amidst the serene Fife countryside. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the opulent rooms and beautiful gardens of this Renaissance gem, once favored by Scottish monarchs including Mary, Queen of Scots.

Conclude your day back at Gleneagles with a delightful dinner, reminiscing on the royal history and scenic beauty you’ve experienced throughout the day.

Day 9 - Tuesday 20th August - Welcome to Ireland

This morning you will depart Gleneagles with your guide and travel back to Edinburgh to catch your onward connection to Dublin.

On arrival at Dublin Airport, you will meet your Ireland guide and transfer directly to your hotel- First stop is the imposing Rock of Cashel. Set on a dramatic outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale, the Rock of Cashel, iconic in its historic significance, possesses the most impressive cluster of mediaeval buildings in Ireland. Among the monuments to be found there is a round tower, a high cross, a Romanesque chapel, a Gothic cathedral, an abbey, the Hall of the Vicars Choral and a fifteenth-century Tower House. Your final destination this evening is the picturesque town of Kenmare in the heart of Kerry where you will relax and enjoy a delicious locally sourced dinner.

Day 10 - Wednesday 21st August - Ring of Kerry

On the southern shores of the Iveragh peninsula, also known as The Ring of Kerry, you will meet one of our favourite characters. A fisherman, foraging expert, storyteller and a true Irish gent, John will take you on a wander along the shoreline learning about life on Ireland’s west coast all the while regaling you with tales of characters from the region, from lonely monks to 18th century civil rights activists to mythical heroes.

Take some time today to tour The Ring of Kerry with your guide stopping at picturesque bays and harbours and points of interest along the way before returning to you hotel in Kerry this evening.

If preferred, you can have a day out in Killarney, take a boat tour of The Lakes of Killarney, visit Ladies View where QueenVictoria’s ladies-in-waiting visited here during the royal visit in 1861 and were so enchanted with the view that it was named after them and tour Muckross House & Gardens.

Another alternative is a wonderful immersive garden tour and three course lunch in a rainforest in the heart of Cork. Enjoy an in-depth garden tour, then take a seat at our feasting table for a 3-course lunch feast. A feast for all the senses & a very happy belly guaranteed!

Day 11 - Thursday 22nd August - Cliffs of Moher

Leaving Kerry behind you today you will head north into Co Clare with a visit to Ireland’s famed Cliffs of Moher,  part of the UNESCO Global Geopark, a special region with outstanding geology. Visually stunning, the Cliffs Stand 702ft at their highest point and stretch for 5 miles along the Atlantic coast, a rare example of a sedimentary basin and one of Ireland’s most visited tourist attractions. We can arrange a tour of the cliffs from the sky in a private helicopter* or visit with your guide and  walk along the Cliffs before departing to Adare Manor Hotel.

This evening before dinner, enjoy a private whiskey tasting session at Adare.

Alternative activities today- Helicopter to Aran Islands where they can tour the island with a local or cycle if preferred.

Visit a Goat Farm where local cheese is produced.

A private tour of The Burren Perfumery where they can receive a demo on making creams and perfumes made in small batches on site. There is a wonderful cafe here for lunch also.

Day 12 - Friday 23rd August - The Adare Manor Experience

When the 2nd Earl of Dunraven built Adare Manor in 1832 carriages were a familiar part of their everyday life. Today a carriage tour is still the best way to experience all the magic of the Adare Manor Estate the way it was meant to be seen. Settle into a beautifully appointed carriage for a meandering 45 minute exploration of this enchanting 840 acre estate. Take in the sweeping views of the lush Irish countryside, fascinating historic sites, and memorable points of interest along the tour route as your personal guide shares engaging tales of Adare’s long history: the Norman invasions of the 12th century, the rebellions and uprisings which shaped the land and its families, the establishment of the quaint village with its picturesque thatch cottages, and stories of life in the Manor, from the days of the Dunravens up to today.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure, there are plenty of activities onsite for you to enjoy including the spa, golf, a cinema, whiskey tasting or try your hand at archery. We are happy to make bookings for you in advance.

Day 13 - Saturday 24th August - Galway Tour & Ashford Castle

From Adare Manor today, we make our way north onto the capital of Ireland’s west, Galway! Known as the ‘town of the tribes’ the small centre of cobblestone streets and colourful storefronts is vibrant, fun, and cosmopolitan. What better way to spend an afternoon here than a delectable food tour? Stop off in the city and tantalise your taste buds with a delightful journey through Galway’s culinary scene. From artisanal cheeses, craft beers, to handcrafted chocolate, this will be a true feast for the senses.
Leaving Galway, we make our way to Mayo where the impressive 800 year old Ashford Castle awaits you. Once owned by the Guinness family, Ashford has a history dating back to the 12th century and has earned its place in Ireland’s history books. Today, Ashford is one of Ireland’s premier hotels offering an unforgettable experience.

Day 14 - Sunday 25th August - Clonmacnoise & Dublin

Journeying from the west coast of Ireland east, enroute, stop at the ancient monastic site of Clonmacnoise. St Ciarán founded his monastery on the banks of the River Shannon in the 6th Century. The monastery flourished and became a great seat of learning, a University of its time with students from all over Europe. Today the ruins include a Cathedral, two round towers, three high crosses, nine Churches and over 700 Early Christian grave slabs.
Once in Dublin, you have some time this afternoon to relax at your hotel or explore the city with your guide.

Day 15 - Monday 26th August - Dublin's Fair City

Today you get to enjoy some of Dublin’s highlights and hidden gems with an engaging walking tour of the city with a local private guide. Explore the mix of 1,000 years of architecture from the medieval to Georgian to modern. See the Georgian-style Merrion Square, lush St. Stephen’s Green, and Fitzwilliam Square, as well as O’Connell Street, the site of the ‘1916 Uprising’ that led to Ireland’s independence in 1922. Your guide is also a historian who will bring the city to life with colourful tales of life in the city in times gone by.
