This carefully crafted itinerary takes travellers to some famous and iconic Scottish landscapes, enjoying great hikes in each location. Each day as they hike, they’ll discover the history, heritage and incredible scenery of Scotland.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Edinburgh to Inverness

Your guides will meet you at Edinburgh airport and transfer you into the city centre for a tour. We start by stretching our legs on a walk up Calton Hill. From the top, which is marked by a collection of historical monuments, you can see many of Edinburgh’s famous landmarks, including Arthur’s Seat, the Firth of Forth and the Royal Mile as it climbs its way to the castle. After, we enjoy a tour of the Edinburgh Castle before we board the coach for the transfer into the Highlands and our hotel in the city of Inverness.

Day 2 - Visit Culloden Battlefield and Hike at Loch Ness

We start the day with a visit Culloden Battlefield and its richly researched and engaging visitor centre. Learn about one of the most harrowing battles in Scottish history and walk across the rough moor where the Jacobites and the Government fought in 1746. Take the opportunity to visit Clava Cairns – a well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery complex of passage graves, ring cairns, kerb cairns and standing stones. After lunch, enjoy a hike next to Loch Ness, reaching the summit of a hill with great views … maybe you will spot the monster! Enjoy a free evening to explore Inverness.

Day 3 - Over the Sea to Skye

In the morning, we enjoy a hike north of Inverness, climbing a hill to reach a fantastic viewpoint. We then transfer west, stopping at a whisky distillery for a tour with tasting. We then continue west to Skye, enjoying fabulous scenery all the way. After settling into the hotel in Portree, enjoy a free evening to explore the town.

Day 4 - The Black Cuillin Mountains of Skye

We explore the south of Skye today with a fantastic hike offering views of the Black Cuillin and Red Cuillin mountains. This is the heart of Skye and there are many fabulous hikes in the valleys to choose from.

Hike: 5 hours, moderate, 300m elevation gain, 15km

Day 5 - Exploring the Misty Isle

This morning head out with your guide to explore the dramatic landscape of the Quiraing on the northern peninsula of Skye. As you walk, admire the stark rock formations that rise from the rugged ground like the great ruined battlements of a long-forgotten war. Chat with your guide about the geology and history of the area, enjoying the incredible sweeping views of the islands, mountains and sun-clipped shores that stretch in every direction. This afternoon, we enjoy another short hike, out to the headland at Brother’s Point, near Staffin. Afterwards, we transfer south, leaving Skye and making our way to the pretty Highland town of Pitlochry, arriving in time to enjoy a memorable final night’s dinner together.

Hike 2: 2 hours, moderate, 4km, 350m elevation gain

Overnight: Pitlochry

Walk Details: 10 km / 6 miles | 400 m / 1,312 ft elevation gain | Approx: 4 hrs

Day 6 - Final Hike and Return to Edinburgh

Leaving Pitlochry, we stop at the Hermitage for a final Highland hike, enjoying gentle walk through the leafy woodland. Pass Ossian’s Hall, where you can look out over the cascading waterfalls of the River Braan. Depending on how you feel, there is an option for a shorter or longer walk, both traversing the stunning countryside. Enjoy some free time in the nearby town of Dunkeld, before we transfer 90 minutes south to Edinburgh Airport, where the tour ends.
