Day 2 - Wednesday 20th August - A guided tour & the Fringe
Winding through the cobbled streets of Edinburgh during the Fringe Festival is like stepping into a living, breathing tapestry of creativity. From impromptu comedy acts to boundary-pushing performances tucked into medieval basements, each stop offers a taste of the world’s largest arts festival – with your guide giving you insider tips and taking you to the start location for performances of your choice.

Day 5 - Saturday 23rd August - Welcome to Scotland - The Family adventure begins!
Today is the day you all get together. As two of you fly into Edinburgh Airport, your main guide (who will also be your driver) will meet Cindy at her hotel and together make their way to the airport where you will reunite, ready to begin your adventure together. Travel from Edinburgh to Braemar, taking in the stunning landscapes that unfold along the way. The first stop is the elegant Scone Palace, the historic crowning place of Scottish Kings and Queens. Stroll through the beautiful gardens and navigate the unique Murray Star Maze before continuing the journey northward. Along the way, there are opportunities for gentle strolls to soak in the stunning scenery, with your guide sharing stories and insights about the landscape.

Day 6 - Sunday 24th August - Experience Food Anthropology
Set out into the whisky hills to spend a fascinating day hosted by renowned writer, broadcaster, and ‘food anthropologist’ Ghillie Basan. Overlooking the wild moor from her kitchen table, Ghillie leads a hands-on cooking experience, incorporating locally foraged ingredients. As the dishes come together, enjoy sharing stories and learning about the culinary traditions behind each creation.

Day 7 - Monday 25th August - Exploring Balmoral Estate
Enjoy a hike in the beautiful Balmoral Estate, the Highland residence of the Royal Family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria in 1852. Choose from gorgeous woodland hikes or more challenging hill walks. Together with your knowledgeable guide, decide the best option for the day.

Day 8 - Tuesday 26th August - Highland History
Heading West today you will head into the heart of the historic Glencoe. En-route discover the Highland Folk Museum, an open-air museum nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms. Explore historic buildings and exhibits that showcase traditional Highland life, from the 1700s to the 1950s. Wander through recreated cottages, farms, and workshops, each telling the story of Scotland’s rural past. With its immersive displays and beautiful surroundings, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the daily lives and customs of Highland communities through the centuries.

Day 10 - Thursday 28th August - Immersed in Scottish Culture - A Highland Games
As you step onto the grassy field nestled beneath the brooding hills of the Scottish Highlands, the air is alive with the sound of bagpipes and the scent of heather on the breeze. Vibrant tartans ripple in the wind as clans gather, proudly displaying their colors. The rhythmic thud of cabers hitting the earth echoes across the grounds, mingling with the cheers of the crowd. Stalls line the perimeter, offering traditional fare and handcrafted wares, while dancers in kilts perform spirited reels on raised stages. The Highland Games have begun—a celebration of strength, heritage, and fierce community spirit.

Day 11 - Friday 29th August - Stirling Castle Wallace Monument Bannockburn
Today you make your way back to the historic City of Edinburgh. On the way, stop at Stirling Castle, providing a glimpse into Scotlands royal past, perched high above the city with sweeping views over the skyline you will learn about the pivotal role this castle played in Scotland’s fight for freedom.
Arriving in Edinburgh, you will bid farewell to your guide and enjoy a free evening to relax or head out and explore.

Day 12 - Saturday 30th August - Explore Edinburgh
This morning, a private walking tour with an expert guide unveils the winding cobbled streets of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town. Highlights include the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the mighty fortress of Edinburgh Castle at the top of the Royal Mile. From the castle ramparts, tales of the One O’Clock Gun and the city’s past come to life. The tour concludes at the castle, leaving time to explore its halls and exhibitions.
