Arrive in Edinburgh and meet your guide, who will be with you throughout your trip. Transfer together into the heart of the city, to stroll the cobbled streets of the Old Town and take in the atmosphere and delights of the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Perhaps engage in the festival’s street performances that catch your eye as you walk the Royal Mile. Enjoy lunch in the city before transferring north into the West Highlands. Pass through captivating landscapes which will become wilder and more dramatic. Have the chance to stop en route, for photo opportunities of the magnificent nature that surrounds you, before reaching your Castle retreat to rest for the evening.

This morning your guide will transfer you through the mountains to reach the highland village of Braemar. Situated in the Cairngorms, this is a quaint village with plenty of character, surrounded by hills and moorlands. Depending on energy levels, enjoy a short hike en route, or simply relax as you journey to your destination. (Approximately 3/3.5 hours drive time.)

Today, travel to a nearby estate to meet a local expert forager. Hike through the forests and moorlands to see what edible goodies you can find and collect, you will be amazed at how much there is. Learn traditional fire lighting skills and how to cook wild food in a rockoven, maybe even creating something delicious with the ingredients you foraged.

Learn of the Highland tradition. Visit the Braemar Highland Games Field, the location of the largest Highland Games event in the world. Here the whole family can participate a mini games of your own. Have the chance to compete against one another, in some friendly competition. This day is designed for you, so even the youngest members of the family can be involved. After lunch, enjoy a private tour and tasting at the Royal Lochnagar Distillery, which was issued with a royal warrant by Queen Victoria in 1848. Learn about the history of Scotland’s most famous tipple while also having the chance to indulge in a tasting, for those who are old enough.

The rest of the day is free for you to make the most of your final night in the Highlands.
