Day by Day

Day 1 - Monday 26th August - Arrive in Scotland

Arriving at Inverness airport, you’ll be greeted by your knowledgeable guide, who will be with you for the next few days. Inverness, often referred to as the “Capital of the Highlands,” is the gateway to exploring some of Scotland’s most historically significant sites. Your first destination is the Battlefield of Culloden, where the final clash of the Jacobite Rising took place.

Travel the short distance to the Clava Cairns, an ancient burial site dating back to the Bronze Age, around 4,000 years ago. This tranquil and mystical site consists of well-preserved ring cairns, kerb cairns, and standing stones, surrounded by peaceful woodland to explore. Have time here before transferring with your guide to your city hotel for the evening.

Day 2 - Tuesday 27th August - Loch Ness and Journey to Skye

Departing from Inverness this morning, embark on a short boat trip on the mysterious Loch Ness. Admire the tranquil waters and don’t forget to keep an eye out for the elusive Nessie. This is followed by a visit to the historic ruins of Urquhart Castle, perched dramatically on the loch’s shore, offering stunning views and providing a glimpse into Scotland’s turbulent past.

Later, continue westward, as you travel through the breathtaking landscapes of the Highlands. Perhaps stop for a photo at the picturesque Eilean Donan Castle, before crossing the Skye Bridge to arrive on the enchanting Isle, renowned for its rugged beauty and rich folklore.

Day 3 - Wednesday 28th August - Skye Explorations

Begin your day on the Isle of Skye, exploring the island’s iconic landscapes with your guide. Your guide will share fascinating insights into Skye’s history, geology, and folklore as you take in the breathtaking views and unique geological formations.

After a morning of exploration, enjoy an invigorating afternoon paddleboarding session on the island’s waters. Glide along the serene coastline, discovering hidden coves and admiring the dramatic cliffs from a unique vantage point, perfectly rounding off your adventurous day on Skye.

Day 4 - Thursday 29th August - Hiking the Highlands

Leave the Isle of Skye behind as you set on the scenic drive towards Fort William. En route, take a break to hike in Glen Shiel, a beautiful valley known for its stunning landscapes and dramatic mountain scenery. After your hike, continue your journey through the picturesque Highlands, arriving in the town of Fort William, nestled at the foot of Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak.

Day 5 - Friday 30th August - Glenfinnan Viaduct and West Coast

Journey with your guide to visit the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, famous for its appearance in the Harry Potter films. Marvel at the stunning architecture and the surrounding natural beauty. If timed right, watch the Jacobite steam train cross the viaduct.

Continue your drive to the charming coastal village of Arisaig, where you can explore its beautiful beaches and enjoy breathtaking views of the Small Isles. After soaking in the coastal beauty and perhaps having a seaside lunch, head back to Fort William. This route offers a perfect blend of iconic landmarks and serene natural landscapes, have your cameras ready!

Day 6 - Saturday 31st August - Glencoe and Loch Lomond

This morning, travel through the awe-inspiring Glencoe, a valley renowned for its dramatic landscapes and rich turbulent past. As you drive through this stunning glen, you’ll be surrounded by towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, and picturesque lochs. Perhaps stop to take in the views, or simply continue on the winding roads to the serene Loch Lomond. Walk the shores before journeying on to your luxury Perthshire retreat.

Your guide will depart after you are settled in, leaving you to enjoy the resort facilities.

Day 7 - Sunday 1st September - Day at Leisure

Spend your day at Gleneagles enjoying the luxurious amenities and activities. Start with a leisurely breakfast, then perhaps relax with a treatment at the award-winning spa. Have options from; a round of golf, horseback riding, falconry. The day is yours!

Day 8 - Monday 2nd September - Historic St Andrews

A private transfer will collect you from Gleneagles this morning to travel to St. Andrews. Upon arrival, meet your expert guide for an afternoon tour of the historic town, visiting landmarks such as the St. Andrews Cathedral, the Old Course, and the University of St. Andrews. After the tour, enjoy some free time to explore at your leisure, perhaps visiting local shops, cafes, or strolling along the beautiful coastline.

Day 9 - Tuesday 3rd September - The Fife Coast

This morning is free for you to enjoy. Perhaps stroll along the Fife Coast, sampling local delicacies and fresh seafood from the charming fishing villages. Alternatively, simply relax at your accommodation before the afternoon activities.

This afternoon, a transfer will meet you to head to Kingsbarns Distillery for a guided tour. Learn about the whisky-making process, explore the historic distillery, and enjoy a tasting session of their finest single malts, concluding your day with a deeper appreciation of Scotland’s rich culinary and whisky heritage.

Day 10 - Wednesday 4th September - Edinburgh Discoveries

Your private transfer will meet you at your hotel to travel to Edinburgh this morning. Arriving in the capital, drop off your luggage at your hotel before stepping out to explore the city. Meet your guide for a group tour for this historic city. Visit the historic Edinburgh Castle and walk the cobbled streets of the medieval Royal Mile. Discover the beautiful St Giles’ Cathedral and the intriguing stories of the underground city at the Real Mary King’s Close.

The rest of the day is at your leisure. Perhaps visit one of the many galleries, or browse the many shops for gift and keepsakes to take home.

Day 11 - Thursday 5th September - Foodie Tour

Today, experience Edinburgh’s culinary delights with an Edinburgh Food Safari. Join a guided tour that takes you through the city’s vibrant food scene, sampling a variety of local delicacies. Delight in tastings at artisan bakeries, traditional Scottish pubs, and bustling markets. As you explore different neighborhoods, your guide will share fascinating stories about Edinburgh’s food culture and history, making for an enriching and delicious experience.

The day is then free for you to make the most of your final evening of your Scottish tour. Perhaps dine at one of the many vibrant restaurants and raise a toast to your travels.

Day 12 - Friday 6th September - Depart
