Head out and explore some of the best of highland Scotland as you embark on a truly stunning adventure. Begin in the capital of the highlands, Inverness, before heading west past iconic castles towards the beautiful Isle of Skye. Spend some time exploring the neighbouring islands as you embark on a full days boat excursion, including a local seafood lunch onboard. Hike within some of the stunning scenery, before heading back to mainland to drive one of the most beautiful roads in the world. Wind your way along as you take in stunning view after stunning view, leading to the shores of the most famous loch in Scotland, Loch Ness. Explore the waters of this famous loch at speed and keep you eyes peeled for the famous monster, before returning to Inverness to round off an epic adventure.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Welcome to the Highlands

Upon arrival into Inverness, collect your rental car and head for your accommodation in the city centre. Upon arrival you could choose to head out and explore the capital of the highlands, Inverness, or spend some time relaxing at your hotel.

Day 2 - Across to the Isle of Skye

After a hearty first breakfast in the Scottish highlands, head out towards the beautiful Isle of Skye. Take the stunning northern route towards Loch Carron and the quaint village of Plockton, described by some as “The Jewel of the Highlands”. A great option for a bite to eat and an amazing location to sit back and enjoy the views.

From here continue on for Skye, taking a moment to appreciate the skyline ahead as you cross the famous bridge onto the island. Follow the road north as you hug the coastline before reaching the capital of the island, Portree, and your accommodation for the next few days.

Day 3 - Exploring the Misty Isle

This morning meet your guide for the day as you head out on a private guided hike to explore some of the islands stunning scenery up close and personal. There are lots of great walks on offer for the day such as:

  • The Quairang – hill circuit – 6.5km
  • The Old Man of Storr – 5km
  • Brothers Point – 3.5km
  • Rubha Hunish – 8.5km

These are just some of the options on offer for the day.

Arrangements will be made prior to your departure for a meeting place with the guide based on the walk you would like to do.

Day 4 - Exploring the Small Neighbouring Islands

This morning you will board a cruise and head out to explore the coastlines of Skye and the sound of Raasay. This 2 hour journey will provide unbelievable views of the Cuillin Mountain Range and if your are lucky, you might even spot some of the marine wildlife that calls the waters around the islands home. Dolphins, Whales, and Seals have been known to frequent the area. Upon return to the harbour, enjoy a locally caught seafood lunch as you bask in the views.

Following this you could spend some time exploring the town of Portree with plenty of shops and cafes to keep you entertained for the remained of the afternoon.

Day 5 - The 'Road to the Isles' & Loch Ness

Today is all about the scenery as you make your way south towards the ferry port in Armadale. Near you will board your ferry back to mainland Scotland, while getting the chance to look back across to the beautiful south coastline of Skye. You will dock into Mallaig, where you could opt for a spot of lunch before begin your journey along one of the most beautiful roads in the world. Wind your way past white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, ridge lines & and glistening lochs as you work your way inland. Keep your eyes peeled for the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct and the monument that stands across from it, stopping off to take in the jaw dropping Loch Shiel.

Continue on for Fort Augustus at the foot of Loch Ness and your home for the next couple of days. Take some time to relax after a long day of travel and take a short walk into the charming village.

Day 6 - A Private Boat Tour on Loch Ness

Head out on the famous waters of Loch Ness as you take a private boat tour around the loch. Enjoy the views of this stunning location as you speed across the waters that play host to Scotlands greatest legend. Learn about the stories that have been passed down through time and decide for yourself if you believe that famous Loch Ness monster truly exists.

After a thrilling morning on the water, it is time to sample a British delicacy in Afternoon Tea. Sit back and dine in luxury as you sample elegant finger sandwiches and delicious sweet treats, all washed down with your choice of tea.

Day 7 - Return to Inverness

After breakfast you will flow the road along the waters edge as you make your way back to Inverness. On route, a stop at Urquhart Castle, seen the day before on your speed boat tour, is a must. Step into this ruined castle that stands a shore the famous loch and learn about the history attached to it.

From here you head for another important historical location, Culloden Battlefield. The scene of the final stand for the 1745 Jacobite rising, this location is a must see location for all, but especially those with a keen interest in history. Enjoy a private tour as you learn about build up to this iconic battle and get a true feel for the events that unfolded here.

Day 8 - Depart

Return you rental car to Inverness airport, before making your onwards connections, leaving behind endless memories that will last a life time.
